Craving in Dreams

free, This is normal and everyone has their own type of dreams! Maybe become more relaxed before bed and use techniques to help rest your body. It can make a difference :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

I have had both types of dreams, ones where I am actually smoking and ones where I am searching for cigs. Either way, I hate those dreams and I am glad I don't have them every night. At first it used to really bother me and i would wake really wanting a smoke. Now I just wake up knowing I have had the dream, but it does not bother me. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,013 Amount Saved: $200 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 6 Mins: 59 Seconds: 11

Hi Freemom, (((magic hug))) I've had one really scary smoking dream (where I was actually smoking and enjoying it) and a few lately where I am looking for a cigarette but don't find or smoke any. My Grandmother used to tell me that dreams mean the opposite of what we are feeling in real life. Grandma also read tea leaves, but she never smoked one cigarette in her entire life, so I believe there is truth in what she told me. Plus I've heard we use our dreams to find ways to resolve our everyday problems subconciously. Whatever the reasons for our dreams I am just thankful to wake up and know it's just a dream (except the ones where I'm on the beach with a certain twinkly eyed person, lol). :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,898 Amount Saved: $1008 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 11 Mins: 4 Seconds: 26

I'm curious if this has happened to others. I know others have posted about smoking dreams, but this is a bit different... Between the Chantix and this being my second go-around (with a short relapse in between), I've been fortunate so far to have had VERY few true cravings. I have fleeting thoughts here and there, which I find I can usually dismiss with positive self-talk. But, my dreams lately - have been filled with images of me hunting down a cigarette, searching all over for my discards, trying to sneak off to smoke, etc... I don't wake up right after and I don't think I'm ever successful. But when I do wake up I have a vague recollection of the dream and the panicky, desperate searching and bad feelings. Is it really strange to be having my bad cravings in my dreams instead of in my waking hours? And will these continuing "subconscious images" cause me trouble later on? I'd love to hear some feedback. - Freemom My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 150 Amount Saved: $48.96 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 40 Seconds: 11

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

I've woke up from such dreams confused as to whether or not I smoked a ciggerate in "life" or in "dream". Even after I tell myself that I didn't cheat, strangely, I feel that I have.

Well I'm happy to report no cig dreams last nite, at least none that I remember. I'm still curious because I did a search for older posts about dreams and almost all of them were about actually smoking in the dream. In mine, I never do get to smoke. I'd still love some insight. I wonder if its related to my having been a closet smoker - sneaking off for a smoke was my everyday pattern not too long ago. Still, as long as I'm not doing it in real life, I guess I'm ok.
