Dear sherri -
Preparation really is everything on this quit journey.
Spend as much time as possible on this website, reading, reading, reading... everything you need to know is right here, I can promise you that!
Those who have gone before you and before me, have taken the time to share their journeys --their challenges, their wins and their losses...
You will need to build a toolbox of coping skills, to get you through the tough times.
I have a first time, cold turkey successful, forever quit going. Look at my meter, dear one. You can do this, but you have to do it for you, not for anybody else.
Period...
So if you're ready, when you're ready, spend every available moment on this site reading posts, especially old posts. Find some of the oldies, like I did, who speak to your soul, and latch on to them for dear life. Read their stories, and take it all in.
If your desire to quit is stronger than your desire to light up, you can make this happen. So ask yourself which is stronger...
I would be more worried about my kids and my family dealing with the thought of my dying, or my dying, then I was going through what you will on this journey. Withdrawel, and tough times quitting, will not kill you, smoking will kill you... not a tough choice at all, my friend!
Many blessings-
Healer
