What a Lovely Atmosphere

Thanks Pentinent. I'm new around here, but this is a very upbeat place that is helping me so much. I really enjoy the atmosphere. I'd also like to recognize many of the veterans who have provided so many words of wisdom, encouragement, and inspirational posts. Your stats are amazing and inspirational. Hi Pam, Everything is fine thanks. Closing in on 3 years on the 18th and that is something that I couldn't envisage when I started back in 2004. At that time, it really was a case of "I can do this but just one day at a time" and as you know very well, once I got going, nothing was going to deflect me from my goal. N.O.P.E. After gritting my teeth early, the days quickly turned to weeks and now the months fly by! Smoking? History!!! I know I've said this often but for all the philosophising done here which is good and fun and thought-provoking; for me, this quitting lark boils down to just one simple statement. "You must want to quit more than you want to smoke". Anyone reading this, think about that statement good and hard before moving on. You must want to be quit MORE than be smoking. If one has that as a mindset and do not allow anything to mess with it, one WILL succeed. If not, one will always struggle as one continually negotiates with oneself and opens up the possibility of relapse almost daily! I started this thread because today I am very optimistic about the chances of all the new quitters here as the environment at the site right now is very ripe for success. Keep up your great quit! Mercy, Just keep doing it and you will arrive at theses stats one day, believe me. LCE, I know what you mean!! Penitent d1078 :)

Great to see you Pen! This post is such an awesome reminder of how great this site can be when we all work together without any bickering and fighting. I'm so glad to see everyone getting along and it's also exciting to see all of the newer quitters being positive and successful in their quits. Thanks for posting such a positive and upbeat thread! Hope all is well with you across that big pond. Crave the Quit! Penitent, Yes, I've noticed the change too! When I first got here I was discouraged by seeing the negative posts and simply could not read or reply to them. Maybe I missed out on being supported and returning support to a lot of really nice quitters by doing that, but I had to protect my quit and it worked for me. Lately a whole new group of positive people have exploded out of the smokescreen... it's really remarkable... now I wish I had more time to read (even the negative ones) and reply. The support here is second to none. Keep kicking that positive ash everyone! :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,700 Amount Saved: $1288 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 19 Mins: 7 Seconds: 50

This site has been like the roots of a stong tree for me. It enabled my quit to be grounded in a strong foundation. Along with prayer I found strength that can only come from compassion and love for fellow man. It took me 2 minutes to reply to this thread after seeing your stats Penitent!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Are you the king quitter???? LOL Josie.... may I ask your stats. I can't even imagine. Thank you for being there for us. I've also noticed this is a wonderful site especially for those that have fallen. They are welcome here as if it were their first time and are always embraced with the warmest welcomes. I would just like to comment on how positive and upbeat the site has become in the past couple of months and for that we have to be thankful for the wonderful bunch of new quitters who have arrived in recent months. It is noticeable that you have created a warm, caring and happy place that new quitters will love to step into when they finally realise that this site exists. Quitting smoking can be difficult but no-one looking for support needs a backdrop of fear and trepidation the atmosphere has eased and it's fun to see the whole range of current, happy threads that have all been introduced by the new quitters here. This is a wonderful atmosphere in which to get the job done. Just keep doing it! I thank you, I salute you and I wish you all well in your quits. One piece of advice if I may, it really is quite easy if you really want it. All The Best Penitent :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1077 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21,548 Amount Saved: 5385 Life Gained: Days: 175 Hrs: 13 Mins: 50 Seconds: 11
