I know that it seems impossible to do a roadtrip without smoking - but you'll learn how to do this, just like you've learned so many other things over the past 53 days. For instance, you've learned how to: eat a meal without having a cigarette afterwards, talk on the phone without smoking, start your day without a cigarette, etc. If you can do all of these things, you can take a roadtrip smoke-free! If you feel any tense/weak moments - just look in the rearview mirror at your son's face - that's quite a motivation! If you are the passenger, then read, talk, play games, sleep, eat and sing! If you are the driver, then talk, play games, eat and sing :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

I'll be driving with my 8yr old son and probly my dog. He is so proud that I've quit so that is a motivator. I like the idea of a book on tape, that way my boy can get into it too. I have only had 1 road trip in my life that I didn't smoke and I remember it being pretty rough. Its just another pattern that I need to break but honestly, I'm wound up about it. Jane - First - are you driving alone? Here are some suggestions: Listen to a book on tape Chew lots of sugarless gum & suck on lollipops Bring lots of water/juice etc. You CAN do this! I have been doing really well not smoking. I have so much more energy its amazing to me. I never really put two and two together. Finally feel like my health has improved. I even went out Saturday night with my girlfriends and got drunk without any notions of smoking. Real milestones. But, and of course theres a but, I'm going on this road trip next month. Well really in just a few weeks. Smoking and driving go hand in hand. This will be the biggest challenge for me. I don't want to eat the whole time. I need something to do so that I don't smoke to get through this drive. Its just a one day drive but cigarettes make it go by so much faster. stupid junkie thinking, I recognize that. So I'm afraid I'm gonna give in....
