I'm glad you posted this, Shortcake. We need a reminder sometimes. Although I always have a personal reminder...my sister's husband died at age 50 from lung cancer(again, a horrible death)...he was a 2 pack a day smoker. The stats on lung cancer speak for themselves. SMOKING KILLS The tobacco companies should be shut down permanently!!!! They know smoking kills just as they know how addictive it is. Do they care???? I have VERY strong feelings on this subject. I'm sooo happy and grateful for SSC and all the wonderful quitters here. Keep all those wonderful quits going strong. Not one more penny to the tobacco companies!!!! My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your friends family. Lung cancer is a horrid death. Believe me I know, my dear soul mate lived 23 days after he was diagnosed. This is a sweet and tragic post, and a reminder that sometimes the craves are not just about us. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 145 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,296 Amount Saved: $797.5 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 15 Mins: 38 Seconds: 44

Shortcake, Your post and Gregs post about his mother gave me a huge jolt of conviction about why I'm going through the ordeal of not smoking. Sometimes reality gets lost in the middle of craves.
