Smokers

HI Whynot,I think most smokers dont' even think that they are addicted, and I think they are getting the feeling of being the "social outcasts" now, beacuse you can hardly smoke any where anymore! I used to hate it myself, when people bugged me about smoking, and I promised myself I would never "be" one of those non smokers. So I have to remind myself, not to bug anyone. But it is hard not to, especially now. I have learned so much about myself through this process, and what it takes to quit. But I also work with three guys who smoke, and they all wish they could quit, and have tried a couple of times. They know I have quit, and I don't bug them about it, and they don't bug me. If they ask me for tips, I'll be glad to offer some, but understanding that they have to be in the right place to quit....I will leave them to it! I had to learn the hard way that I am one of the most addicted people out there, and I am not by any means out of the woods yet. But I do feel more prepared than any other time in my life and so my focus has to be keeping my self quit and to live and let live. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 32 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 821 Amount Saved: $337.6 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 23 Mins: 11 Seconds: 46

Why is it that when a quitter talks to a smoker and says anything reguarding cigarettes, the response is........ "Just because you quit....." As though it can't be possible to really understand the difficulties of quitting the addiction AND overcome it. I remember being in awe of those around me who were able to break the habit, I didn't dismiss them as though they had no clue. Now what do I hear from smokers....."Please don't become one of those quitters" What?? So I guess that you can only talk about the hazards of smoking if you are currently a smoker. How stupid is that?? I am sooo glad I am not one of those stupid people anymore!! Oh it mskes me so angry! Sorry everyone, but sometimes I just need to yell! My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,271 Amount Saved: $412.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 14 Mins: 50 Seconds: 31

Mom mom You are absolutely correct. A good friend who quit long before I did explained it as non-smoker verses an anti-smoker. I am a non-smoker. If I ever start to invade someone else's right to smoke, I hope they do whack me upside the head. It still burns me that we pass laws against freedoms just because we have the loudest voices. I am glad I quit and I won't smoke again but anyone else who wants to is welcome as long as it is legal.
