4 1/2 days to go

Hello JDK I will be thinking of you this Bank Holiday and hope that you and I both can resist temptation. I am on day 8 now of my quit - going cold turkey - and not drinking so have avoided the pub situation a bit but if this lovely weather keeps up then it will be inevitable. Just don't give in to the taunts of beery mates. The whole American date thing confuses me and so I don't know for sure all the time where people are at unless it is spelled out for me. Will look for your posting after the hols. Yeah, Kevin, your cheerleaders are waiting to hear from you. I realized I'm rooting for you more than my favorite baseball team. If you knew me well, you'd know that's really saying something! I'm taking a three day vacation from work. Talk about a quitter's reward! I'm going out to cut, collect and stack wood from trees we had cut down on our property. And no, everybody, I am NOT going to name a piece of wood after Kevin. That would just be wrong!! :p Mike My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 131 Amount Saved: $21 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 49 Seconds: 23

Yoo Hoo, KEVIN, Where are you? I don't have a plant to name after you, so I named my lunch after you. Hope that's okay! Let us know how you are doing today! You can see we are all waiting.... Kev, Day 2.........let us know when you're ready to throw your party! You're doing great, just hang in there and know it will get easier. Try red licorice, altoids, sunflower seeds (we call them spits here), chewing on straws or anything that helps you. Have to run off to work in the garden center now, but I will name a plant of my own for you today. Use your godzilla hammer..... :eg: Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,180 Amount Saved: $1106 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 6 Mins: 46 Seconds: 58

Kevin, I want to recommend a post to you. It's in the forum New Users and General Discussion (hope I got that right, close enough). The thread is A Simple Philosophy. It may sound too simplistic for how you're feeling right now. I'm not sure. But it becomes true VERY quickly, at least it did for me. I hope all is well. At least you have a new pot to grow in! Phil, what are you going to do with that tomato when it's ripe? Will it be a moral dilemma? Yes, ALL the hard questons are asked here! ;p Gen, congratulations on day 20! You'll be in the fourth week of your new and improved life soon. Does it feel even better than you knew it would? 6 days free feels amazingly good, despite the standard withdrawal stuff! Kev- GOOD FOR YOU!!! Right now, hundreds of chemicals are in the process of leaving your body (thank god!). So, if you have any withdrawal symptoms and/or cravings, just remember that this is your body expelling toxins - so it's actually a good sign. We're all routing for you & know that you CAN and ARE doing this! Hello JDK How does this find you? Well done on making it to day 2. From the lofty height of day 20 I can tell you, it does get better. Hope all is well. Kevin, You did it! You're right, this is a MAJOR accomplishment for you. And you're building on it, minute by minute. I woke up, it's 3:45 AM. One of my first thoughts was wondering how you are, instead of thinking about cigarettes. Just goes to show you how imortant this group is to all of our quits! Hang tough! Keep posting!
