Hiya Jean49,
Good luck with your step down. Remember to have all of those tools handy that you used at the very beginning of your quit. Lots of water, hard candy, etc. Stay close to the site too and post how you're doing. Okay?
I'll be watching out for you. ;)
Stay Strong,
Tutti
PS Remember, you're healing with each crave or withdrawal symptom.

Jean,
Although we do recommend that you follow the full course, if you do plan to continue on with your step down, do make sure you are prepared.
As you know, some quitters do experience an adjustment period. It's much easier to get through the adjustment if you have a plan.
Keep us posted.
Danielle

Hey Jean, I am on the patch too. I am on the middle step. Thought about stepping down or off too, but I am too cautious. I don't want any big surprises right now, as I'm going to have enough reminders when I get out in the garden. But Good luck, let us know how it goes. :)

Jean, I was on the patch. I stepped down from 21 to 14 after about three weeks and from 14 to 0 at 4 weeks. The 5th week was somewhat more difficult, but managable.

Hello there
I think everyone's quit is different and people should just do what feels right for them. I'm using patches and have followed the full course - started with 6 weeks on 21mg, 2 weeks on 14mg and am stepping down to 7mg on Sunday for 2 weeks. I have felt like stepping down earlier but think for me personally I would be better off following the full course. You need to do what feels right for you so the very best of luck to you - I'm sure you'll be fine!!

Stay close Jean, in case you need support here.
Missing a stage on the patches might have an effect on you. You might feel some withdrawal effects - then again, you might not. Just be careful!
I admire your courage - and wish you a steady ride!!
Nicotine be gone - quite!

[color=Blue]I know that the instructions say to be on the patches at various mg's for 'x' number of weeks etc. - BUT I just feel that for me, I want the nicotine to be out of my system faster. So that being said instead of putting on the 21mg patch this morning I stepped down to the 14 mg. I knew at the beginning of my stop smoking quest that I would not be able to go cold turkey and needed assistance. I am feeling fairly confident that stepping down is the way to go.
Wish me luck !
