Dawya I hope for a speedy recovery for you. Go into this with the strength and positive attitude you have demonstrated in your quit and you will be just fine. Think of the things that this surgery and not smoking are going to enable you to do in the future :) PRB My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 42 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,273 Amount Saved: $189 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 6 Mins: 6 Seconds: 24

Dawya, Best of luck on Tuesday, not that you will need it since you will be in very good hands. I will say a prayer just for you. I have had numerous surgeries, and in most cases I got what I call a "happy shot" before going into the operating room. It's supposed to relax you...and boy, do I get relaxed. Hopefully you get the same with the same reaction. Think positive thoughts, just like not smoking! Dawya, I understand your fear about being put to sleep because I've always been that way myself. Neither one of us have to worry about that. These doctors know what they're doing. I think it's that WE want to be in control at all times. At least that's how it is with me. The pacemaker itself is really routine these days. Aren't you thankful that they can do so much now? I will definitely be praying for you because I know you're afraid. I know you'll be fine too but, I understand how scared you are. Believe me, when I say I'm going to pray for you, I mean it. Those aren't just words. You will stay in my prayers. Dawya - Just relax and breathe. As you probably know from quitting, the anticipation is usually worse than the actual event. The same will be true for getting the pacemaker. CONGRATULATIONS on 2 weeks smoke free! Thank you all for the prayers and sharing of other's experiences with it. I will remember this and be less fearful when I go. I will post again as soon as I can and let everyone know how I am doing. Dawya, Installing a pacemaker is routine these days. You're going to be just fine! I know you're scared, but you'll have no problem with this. Rest easy in that knowledge. :) And yes, I'll pray for you. That the procedure will go well... and that your fear will be replaced by assurance!
