kita, come on march buddy...you do NOT need a smoke! It won't change a thing, except you'll feel bad about smoking. I agree with the others. Your son has made some wrong choices to get him where he is. You have the choice of whether/how much to help him. Maybe you should tell him you won't accept any more calls unless he agrees to not blame you/ask for money? And if he does anyway, then tell him not to call again for a certain amount of time, and only if he will keep his agreement. Kita? Check in please....we are here, rooting for you. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 47 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,912 Amount Saved: $319.6 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 13 Mins: 54 Seconds: 5

Kita, Sorry to hear about your stressful situation. I also have a family member in prison (a brother-30 yrs. old). Kita, your son is a grown man and responsible for his own actions. You did nothing to cause this to happen to him. His basic needs are being taken care of. I suggest that you need to take care of yourself first, and then do what you can for him if you are able. You made a great choice in coming here to vent. You just take some deep breaths and hold on. Chew some gum, drink some water, or whatever it takes to get you through this. You can do it! Don't cave in Kita, I understand about those damn calls because my son is in prison right now, I sometimes cringe when I see it's him calling because I know he is going to want something or is going to whine about how everyone is out to get him. Don't cave in your son's behavior isn't going to change if you have that smoke, it's only going to make you feel worse, you can't change him and it's not your fault I finally have stopped blaming myself for my son's behavior, he is the reason he's where he is at, he blames me but I know it's not my fault that he is there. Don't cave in, you can do this and having that smoke isn't going to make things better!!! I just got a collect phone call from son in Florida and seems he is once again in jail. He is a drug addict and sometimes to this day I blame my self for his addiction because I had a nicotine addiction. Well. I finally hung up on him I can't take the collect calls anymore and I am tired of sending money to jails and that is what he wanted money for his account so he could buy food and snacks. I just snapped and hung up let me tell you he is 38 years old this Friday. I really want to just go buy a pack of cigarettes right now and say the hell with it what for but then again I think how hard I worked to get where I am and I don't want to lose my quit. Thanks for letting me vent My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 974 Amount Saved: $312 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 18 Mins: 46 Seconds: 0
