Butterfly: Yes, for me, it is definately a part of the wording. If I say Non-Smoker, then, to me, it sounds as if I have never been a smoker. Not that I am proud that I was a smoker, just proud that I have quit smoking. Don't know if that makes much sense to most, but in my weird brain it makes total sense! lavendr, I'm like you... the word "non-smoker" scared me. For some reason, that word made me just want to run to the store and buy cigs!!! I always referred to myself as an "ex-smoker." Recovering smoker to me means that I am somehow still a smoker, which I'm not. It's something I USED to do (hence the term "ex") but do not do anymore. But if recovering smoker is what works for you, then that's what you should call yourself. I agree that it does make a difference, if only to ourselves, and you must find a term that you are comfortable with. Here's to being a recovering smoker! Crave the Quit! Hi all....Did a lot of thinking this weekend, and decided that in order for me to be totally successful with my quit, I can not call myself a "Non-Smoker". I am a recovering smoker. There are Recovering Alcoholics and Recovering Drug Addicts. Since smoking is an addiction, then I am a Recovering Smoker. May be just a psychological thing, but I am proud that I have stopped smoking, and it is a VERY VERY difficult battle. I guess it is just a way to remind myself that this is an every day battle for me and I will win each and every day. Happy Monday!!!!
