Lookingglass, Maybe you just havent noticed the positive effects because you are on the inside looking out. Dont you worry, good things are happening to your body. It took some time for my breathing to get better, in fact I could have sworn it had gotten worse! I exercised my butt off because that was the only time I felt I could breathe better, and the only thing that made me emotionally feel better ( i think I was depressed because of the wihdrawel & wasnt even aware of it, and the endorphins lifted me up) Weird how you can not know you are depressed. I believe that anyone who has quit smoking would benefit from exercising your lungs. Weather it is intentionally taking deep breaths or breathing hard from actual exertion. You will get an increase of oxygen to your system and expand your lungs which hopefully help them heal faster. Good luck to you, hope this helps! Live well, laugh often, love much! Well, after a few months I really loved the improvement in my breathing and started walking everyday plus joined a gym. But I also put on 15 pounds. When I tried to up the walking distance from 2 miles to 3 I really was wiped out. In the last several months I've lost 18 pounds and it has really improved my endurance not walking all that extra poundage around. I'm on a weight loss medication called Meridia which is very similar to an antidepressant med in that it works on brain chemistry. The only down side is that I don't have any clothes that fit. :gasp: NOPE Janet My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 654 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,092 Amount Saved: $3270 Life Gained: Days: 87 Hrs: 6 Mins: 46 Seconds: 20

i am a few days before the 6 months period. my name is tina and i am 48 years old. i have been asked recently if i have had collagen injections as i have no wrinkles can you believe it !. my skin was always in not bad condition but now in the last month i have also noticed the difference. i no longer look tired and drawn and my skin used to look a little greyish , now im glowing and in fact radiant. the inside i cannot see thank god , i know my breathing was better in the first three days but i can tell i have been a smoker as the tightness is still around. every day is an effort but i am determined never to stink again . if the outside can look and feel better in such a short time then my inside is also improving at the same rate. what idiots we have been look around you , notice the people who smoke (ugly or what)thats You and Me or it was . you know what it does to you , you know you feel better , you have the answers. its just easier to give in isnt it ?
