A Simple Philosophy?

Kind of like winning an arm-wrestle, isn't it? I love the 'tables turned' bit, Mike, I'll keep that jangling around me old bean as well :) I hadn't thought of rat poison or head shaving either! But how about eating a poisoned rat with a shaved head? Nah, methinks I'll stick to chocolate! Best to you in your quit, this is a great place to come and stay on track. Keep posting! x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 106 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,452 Amount Saved: 583 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 23 Mins: 17 Seconds: 52

Todash, Thanks for writing this! It's now in my bookmarked collection. It's all very true (except for maybe the easy part?). After a week I feel that in order to start smoking again I would have to be doing something new (albeit a long term, familiar, former habit). It would be a deviation for the norm, the routine course of my days. I'd have to go through being dizzy and semi-nauseous the first few butts, I'd have to overcome the MASSIVE guilt and disappointment in myself. In short, I'd have to REALLY WANT to smoke. Make it a conscious choice. Why, in God's name would I WANT to do something THAT STUPID!! So, you're right, the tables are flipped. Not smoking is the norm now and smoking would be a change, a new thing. The "cravings"? They are misfirings of my brain's neural network due to my former drug (nicotine) addiction that just have to be dealt with on those terms. To do list for today: don't steal handbags, don't rob a bank, don't shave my head (not that there's anything wrong with that :) ), don't glue my fingers together, don't eat rat poison, don't smoke cigarettes. Thanks again!! Excellent post that I'll read often!! Cigarettes Not Smoked

18 years ago 0 984 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
It's particularly easy to NOT smoke on the beach, no ciggies for thousands of nautical miles! I think I really ticked off old Nic with this post cos I had a vivid smoking dream last night :gasp: He's a persistent little so and so but alas, I kicked his ash again. Score Todash 1,000,000 : Nic -103. At any rate, I'm glad this hits home for other people. If anything my crazy brain conjures up can help just one person to stay quit, I'll post till the cows come home (or to the beach...are there cows on this beach?! Fresh milk mmmmmmmmmmmmmm) Cheers all x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 103 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,377 Amount Saved: 566.5 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 16 Mins: 38 Seconds: 9
