Iskarboe,
I'm very sorry for your loss and I know you have to be shaken up. Don't be afraid for youself because you've made a wonderful decision to quit. You CAN do this and we're all here to help you.
Get yourself prepared. See the tools over to the left, really use them because they help so much. The workbook is very helpful.
1. Get rid of all cigarettes and ashtrays. 2. Drink lots and lots of water...It helps with cravings and flushes the poisons out of your system. LOTS of water. 3. Have hard candy, gum, sunflower seeds, toothpicks, etc. to keep your hands and mouth busy. 4. Make a list of reasons why you want to quit smoking....this really helps. 5. Think of some things you can do during a craving like wash your hair, clean something in the house, take a quick walk, read, etc. You need to be busy during those cravings. 6. Real a lot of posts, especially the older posts, on this site and you post a lot yourself. Ask as many questions as you need, vent all you want, etc. We're here to help you all of the way.
This is a great site with some real fine people. They've had my back since February 18th.
Welcome and congratulations on making one of the most important decisions of your life.
Hugs,
Tutti
