Hi everyone, i have quit for 7 days now, but im starting to get an urge and nearly bought some fags, ive given up for my health and my childrens, im only 31 and was getting chest pains, im quit fit but used to smoke when i went to the gym which is not good, i feel really good now, i can breathe well and i can taste food really well, i can also smell things differently.Im on the patches but if i dont put one on soon enough in the morning i do crave a bit.I used to smoke all day, when i drive, have a cup of tea and eat u name it.My symptons havent been very welcome, ive had 4 headaches in a week and 2 nights of complete insomnia where i wasnt going to sleep untill 4 in the morning, but i keep telling myself not to quit now as its all been for nothing, if anyone wants to chat im happy to talk to people, cheers Donna xxx My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/7/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 146 Amount Saved: 35 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 12 Mins: 57 Seconds: 20

Hi Angelcapp & Drose, thanx for replying, oh Drose did you have a fag? But dont worry i was that close to one too, i think i just couldnt be bothered to go out and get some, but in a way thats good. You still went 8 days and will do that again. Sometimes i sit here and think, i really want one, why cant i have one, i enjoyed smoking so why have i quit, then i have to quickly change what im thinking, i personally think once you can control the nic cravings its about 75% mind from then on, i can go a few good hrs without thinking of a fag then bang im constantly thinking of one, i just dont want to undo what i have done, i think this site is fab, coz we are all in the same boat :p

Hi Rainie, yes i do have it on my mind a bit now, the first few days were fine but now ive reached the 7 day mark i just fancy one, im at home with my son today as hes been up all night with a bug so ive cleaned all the house and really caught up, at work some smoke near me but ive not been tempted. I think i just want to be selfish and think, well...if ive quit smoking what can i have now, if i was loaded i would go up town and have a massive spending spree :p

No doubt! I have quit for 7 or 8 days and yesterday got a surpise review from the company that I just started working for... Needless to say it wasn't very flattering. Out of no where. Just come into the office and bang would you like to read through this first? Ohh by the way when would you like to set up a meeting to meet with the owner to re-review your performance? Nice Meeting is Friday. I felt terrible for the letting the company down but, I don't know even in my infinante wisdom if I can help them... Man did I want a HugE CIGARRETTE and a BEER!!!! But, I remembered the part of the course that said this too will pass and I will be left again smoking. Sitting outside the house staring at the lawn asking myself why? why am I smoking again? Good morning, I know exactly how you feel. I am on day 13 and yesterday was one of the worst yet. Really stressful day at work, then problems at home with my teenage kids! I really really wanted a cig yesterday, I even went over the begged my best friend for one (of which I am glad she said no)! I know most days are not like yesterday (thank god), I could not take a lot of days like that, I would cave. Hang in there, I know it gets better and soon you will have more good days then bad ones. I am using Chantix, which really helps. I never made it on the patch. I wish you the best of luck. This is a great site and a lot of great people here will help you any time you need it, so keep coming back! :) Karen My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 332 Amount Saved: $65 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 9 Mins: 50 Seconds: 32

Donna - First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on being smoke-free for a week! Chantix is a prescription medication that helps with cravings. It's not a nicotine replacement - so you're not putting anymore nicotine into your system. I'm also using Chantix and it has been incredibly helpful! I have a question for you....Do you really want a cigarette or do you really just want the craving to go away? Donna - Think about that - you don't really want a cancer stick - you want to feel better. So, the only way to feel better and stop craving is to not smoke. As a non-smoker we have intermittant cravings during the day; with the number/intensity of them going down over time. As smokers, we craved throughout the day - always wanting & planning our next smoke. It's like having a mosquito bite - we really want to scratch it, and scratching it gives us a brief moment of relief, but, scratching actually makes it itchier & sometimes causes us to tear our skin & bleed, etc. If we leave it alone and don't scratch, it WILL go away. About the medication - Chantix is different than Zyban, so you might want to ask your doctor about it.
