jaxphoto You are so right...It sounds to me like you are meeting up with your old non-smoking self...And thats a very good thing indeed...Here is one from my journal that kind of describes this very very important concept...Just want to let you know you are not alone. What you are experienceing is very real indeed... Nicotine Dreams When I was hurt it told me everything would be alright as long as I didn't actually feel the pain. And I believed it. And I never learned to grieve. When I got angry it told me everything would be alright as long as I didn't defend myself. And I believed it. And I never learned to communicate. When I was afraid, it told me everything would be alright as long as I never tasted the fear. And I believed it. And I never learned to cope. When I was happy, it convinced me it was my friend as long as I took it to the party. And I believed it. And I never felt total joy. I am so happy for you...stay well nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,804 Amount Saved: $525 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 23 Mins: 11 Seconds: 40

jaz Hang in there, I can see you've were an emotive smoker, just as I was...I also understand that you will feel that you are "being in people's faces" for awhile as you sort out how to handle the stuff that we used to smoke down... I too am in a business where I have to, shall we say, deal kindly with the human race, even when by any measure most of them are being bone heads...Just take your time you are about to be a person with whom to reacon... Be good to yourself, I think you will like the new you... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,809 Amount Saved: $525 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 0 Mins: 6 Seconds: 14

Jaz I think it is what happens on this site...As you go along there will be certain people that resonate with you more than others...I think this is a function of personality and the fact that each of our quits is different. However, I think we identify with people here who's quits seem similar to our own...And it is those people with which we most identify... That is good... In any case, please keep on with this, I know you had a difficult time in the first few days, but I also see that you are "getting" this very fast...You already recognize that you will be going through an emotional over haul. I assure you that I am. big time... Hang in and be happy you have decided to rid this thing from your beautiful life... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,810 Amount Saved: $525 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 0 Mins: 19 Seconds: 47

Give yourself plenty of space. This is a time for pampering. The most important thing here sometimes will be to just make it through. No need to resolve old issues overnight. If you are open to it, it will happen as an evolution over time. Protect your quit and take it slow. That's the attitude, and holding onto that attitude will make you stronger and stronger, and will definitely get you over the bumps. Congratulations, you are well on your way to discovering the real you. Welcome Sometimes, flicking the devil off takes a little more effort. That's when you have to "shove" him off. You're doing a great job! Keep going. Love your attitude. Jaz - Well said my dear! I feel so much the same way. I had no idea how much of who I am was hiding behind/being blocked by smoking. Now, as a non-smoker, I'm feeling very exposed - exposed to all those around me, but more importantly exposed to myself. Does that make sense? Okay, how can I explain this... Well, it kind of feels like I've been wearing a mask for the past 15-20 years and I just took it off. I'm not sure what to make of this mask-less reflection that's looking back at me in the mirror. It's simultaneously terrifying and liberating. I knew that when I quit smoking I would have to fight physical and mental withdrawal & cravings. But, I really had no idea of the psychological impact that is involved. What a trip! :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 477 Amount Saved: $84.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 31 Seconds: 15
