Another Quitter :)

I smoked for 10 years and quit for nearly 3 and started again through a combination of stress and cockiness (Just one won't hurt me...) I've spent the last five years going through very brief periods where I thought it was time to quit. Usually within 48 hours I'm back smoking full time again - but then, I haven't been in the greatest frame of mind during those times so it was a lot easier for me to argue with the 'Nicodemon'. The first time I quit, I delayed my quit date for one day after I was told my elder brother had died in an accident. This time, I was looking for a meaningful date and picked Feb. 18 - which would have been my brother's birthday. That was postponed through unforeseen events (not as drastic as a death - but my prescription wasn't going to be ready until the 19th lol) and the postponement has just made me more confident that this IS the right time for me to quit and I'm going to beat this curse once and for all. So I've had my last cigarette this afternoon and I've done my little ritual clean of my desk and other smoking locations and binned the lot of it. *hugs to the other 'quitters'* I remember how tough the road was the time I succeeded - I'm not looking forward to the fight but I am looking forward to winning. :)

Hi Willow Today is my first day too. I made it 20 days and caved. I am so hoping that all the people on here can support us all to quit. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. This is the first time I've had support. Someone who really understands what I'm going through. Good luck to you.

Good Luck to you all on your decisions to quit. It's the best decision you could of made. If you can just get on the boards and read alot of the post and use the program tools when your feeling weak that sure helped me alot. These people on here have something great going that sure helped me through the last two weeeks and can help you too. Just stick with your quit and just take it minute by minute because in a couple of weeks it does get better.. Keep the faith and that great quit -- holler if you need any help! Congradulations on your decision to quit. I can related with your relapse after YEARS os non smoking. NOPE - not one puff EVER! Cheers to that. BTW, the odds of a smoker quitting for 2 years are 1 in 20. The avg. smoker attempts to quit once every three years. Please remember that after you invest time, energy and resourses into your quit. You must break the chain or you will be smoker for a like. One day at time..........
