Still going strong and loving this new smoke free life. Few and far between cravings. Awful, awful cough, but all in all I am so happy. I know now that If I could quit smoking I can do anythng I put my mind too. It just take a little hard work and a lot of will. Thank you so much guys for everything. YEaaaa, I have not smoked since Monday and don't want too. I feel good I feel Reallllly good!!!!! That break down I had Monday, well I have come to figure out that what I was so scared about with the withdrawl symptoms for Today (my quit date) were already taking place and the nicotine was already leaving my body. I went from a 1/2 a pack of 20 yrs of smoking to 1 cig for the 4 days prior to Monday. So the nicotine was leaving. I was so scared about today. But I'm here to tell you I feel good No cravings. Although everything I eat taste so good. They may not be a good thing. lol. Also I wanted to let you all know that I think something else that has really helped me is the ton of water I'v been drinking since last week and the fact I'v been going to the sauna everyday since I joined the gym last week. I really think it has really helped pull those toxins out. Just a suggestion for those who may need it and boy does it feel great after a work out. Thanks for all your support. Im going to make.......and hopefully lose some weight. Thank you all so much for the support. I really am going to need it. The chantix has really been helping. I have weird dreams through the night and quickly found out if you dont take it with food it makes you really sick at your stomach. I'v been feeling good up until today and I really was trying to make it through the day without smoking even though its not my quit date yet, but I broke down crying and don't know why. So I smoked about two puffs and put it out. It about made me sick then I got even more upset thinking am I going to get through this. No one around me can understand how horrible an addiction this is because no one around me has ever smoked or better yet, tried to quit smoking. I have been so excited about quitting I started going to the gym and also walking at lunch time it really has made me feel alot better and until today I felt a new person emerging.I just don't know what this emotional rollacoaster is about today. I stacked up on cinnimons, gum, toothpicks for Wednesday. Pray for me that tomorrow will be a better day.

Hi all my name is Carren and I am 31 and have been smoking since i was 12. I have gotten to the point I hate the cigs. I hate the smell and I feel so guilty after I smoke. I am the only smoker in the crowd my husband nor any of my friends smoke so you can say I am the outcast. I was just proscribed the chantix pill and this is my 5 day on it. I have went from smoking a half a pack to smoking 1 to 2 cig a day. Not having any withdrawl symptoms but my quit day is coming up and Im really scared that im not going to be able to put the one or two cigs down for good because i believe it is the psychological habit im have trouble with. Any support would be appreciated. Hi Carren and welcome to the site. Congratulations on your decision to quit. I was in the same spot you are, smoked for over 25 years, 1 to 1-1/2 packs a day. Tried everything under the sun to quit in the past. Finally I went on Chantix and it is doing well. I had the same thoughts, that psychologically I would not be able to do it. In fact on the day before I quit, I actually smoked more because my head said I wasn't getting any more. Don't worry, with this site and with the help of Chantix I am now on day 5 and doing good. The first weekend was hard, but made it through. Hard candy has now become my best friend. Along with the friends I have met on this site. Good Luck, post often and if you need a quit-smoking buddy you can always e-mail me at the SSC IM Messenger. CONGRATS AGAIN :)

Welcome, Quiting is a journey. It can be exciting. I think we have the capability to make what we want out of it. We can be uncomfortable when we quit and look at the discomfort and see how addicted we really are and be glad we are quiting. Or we can look at the discomfort and feel sorry for ourselves and find excuses to blow the quit. You will learn to do all the things you did as a smoker as a non smoker. Once you see you can live the same way it will become easier. Prepare now for the times you know will be hard. Replace doing something different with the times you are now smoking those few cigarettes. Have a thing you will do in advance. Such as buying different kinds of teas....or doing a round of exercise..... or reading a devotional. Lots of support for you from me. You can do it. Your will is more powerful than nicotine. Gosh little J, you wrote everything I was going to write. You are a mindreader! Especially about the *want* vs *need* cravings! Carren, My craves get less and less, to almost nothing! Boredom is a trigger, and sleep helps with that (except they frown on that at work) and daily I have a 3:00 chocolate break. That's when it seemed to hit, but not lately. I also have a stress ball that I keep in the car for when the craves come, but I think it's in the back seat somewhere now. Like little J, the ones I thought would be the hardest (first in the morning and in the car) haven't been nearly as difficult as I had imagined! I am slowly getting back in to all of the things I used to do, but I haven't hit the bar yet. Maybe this weekend. I know I am strong enough to do it now. Most of my friends/family are non-smokers anyway and are very supportive. I love the Chantix too. You are right about taking it with food. Actually I have even forgotten to take one or two and didn't notice a difference. We'll see what happens after my initial 3 months. Also, the dreams I have had are unbelievable. I am still thinking of starting a thread about your "best" dream. I think my favorite so far was being in the White House with Barbara (not Laura) Bush. Other than that, no side effects really. Body functions are normal as far as I can tell. My blood pressure is still a little high, but maybe it's early for that to change. I know I can walk, talk, and breathe all at the same time...that's a great feeling. I am going to start taking Wellbutrin also to try to stop feeding my face so often (more like constantly). My last quit I used the patch, and that with the Wellbutrin didn't seem to mesh very well. I'll try it again. Keep your great attitude, and the rest will come easy. The first few days are the PITS, but it gets better, I promise. Keep us informed of your progress! Give a holler if you need us~ we're here. MomMom PS If my boss reads this, I am NEVER bored at work! I love my job!! Carren, You can do it. I smoked 2 packs per day for over 40 years, and with Chantix I have been able to quit for almost 3 weeks. I know I have a long way to go, but I didn't think I would get this far! Take one crave at a time, one day at a time, and you can do it. You have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. Reading all of the posts here really helps. Everything I am going through has been experienced by someone else, and they have great suggestions. Post often so we know how you are doing! We'll help you.
