Quitting isn't easy but it is doable. Look at all the quitters around here. Be sure to check out the program tools to the left and develop a plan to help you through the tough times. Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to take your life back. Hi pw, Wow, you did drastically cut down..congratulations. Your sore throat should go away soon. Actually, when we smoked, our throat was raw all the time, but we did not feel it because the smoke numbed our throats. When you quit, you can now feel your sore throat! Read and post; do the online program. As long as you are having even one a day, your body will keep crying out for the nicotine and your thoughts will always be obsessed with thoughts of smoking. It is a drag. Hang tough and we will be looking for you; especially on 2/3! That will be a date that will really hold significance for you in your life. Do it now! Do it while you are young..don't waste another 10, 20, or 30 years on this useless, horrible addiction. Hi, welcome to the SSC. I can relate so much to your post. But I want you to know that down the road it will get easier. On February 6 I will be celebrating my 2 year quit. I am 57 and smoked for 30 some years...battled with the bronchitis, sore throats etc because of being addicted. I do feel much better and you will too. Keep close to this site, post as much as you want and read as much as you can. There are a lot of great people here willing to help in any way they can. Good Luck! woodward, Welcome to our support community and thanks for sharing. You have picked a quit date and this is great. Let's get you started on preparing for those good days and bad days. Make a list of activities and hobbies to use as distractions. Start changing your routine little by little and get out of the habit mode this disease has put you in. Have a "crave cart" ready and fill it with lots of coping mechanisms and avoidance techniques. Have small rewards to reward yourself at certain milestones. Know that you can do this and we are here to help every step of the way :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
