Clare - I see on your quit meter that you've gained 4 more days with your husband and daughter. That should be a pretty strong motivation to keep fighting the fight! How did you make it through 55+ days? Whatever it was - do it again! IT IS POSSIBLE. YOU CAN DO IT. YOU WILL DO IT. Clare.... pick yourself up off the ground. Walk over to the sink put the smokes under running water and throw them in the trash. Now, walk over to the couch, grab a blanket and wrap yourself up. "You there yet"... "Ok, I'll wait a sec" (tick tock tick tock) Ok, now let out a big moan or if you feel the need have a really good blubber. Feeling a lil' better? Pick up paper & pen and write down all the good things you feel about not smoking....dwell on the good. Dig right in and beat the crap out of any negative thoughts. That is all they are...thoughts. Ok, as of this moment it is behind you. It is over. Claire, As I read through your post I didn't see where you got rid of the cigarettes. If you keep them around you will be tempted to smoke them. Drown them and get rid of them. You must remember that the only way to quit is by using NOPE (Not One Puff Ever). As long as you do not light that next cigarette you have got it made. Take one step at a time. Take some really deep breaths and drink a lot of water. It looks like you had a good quit going. Each time you put nicotine back into your system you are starting the madness all over again. Every situation you make it through without smoking makes you that much stronger for the next. Is it easy to quit? For most, no. Is it doable? You better believe it. One day at a time. You can do it! clare, (what a lovely name!) Relax, take some time for yourself and put into perspective what you are trying to do. You want to quit? You MUST want this more than you want to smoke. Go through it, analyse it, rationalise it and conclude. Yesterday is history, forget it. Today is all that matters. Work on your determination; resolve that you want to quit more than you want to smoke and then do it, ONE MINUTE at a time to begin with. Old saying here but every extraordinary journey, including mine, started with the smallest of first steps. CLARE - DO IT!!! Watching and Hoping Penitent d1016
