Way to go Freemom!! You are getting through those bad trigger moments and keeping your quit. And your doing it sick too?? :) My Sunday was stressful too... and reading your post now I realised I did it with out smoking... Doesn't it feel great?? Hi all. Yesterday was a hectic day. Was stuck in the house with a sick child for 2 days. Then comes the weekend and hubby isn't feeling well and spends most of day in bed. Spent Sat doing errands, entertaining older daughter (still healthy), taking care of everyone and preparing meals for all. Plus, I was a closet smoker, kids don't know and as a result couldn't get on-line for support - no privacy. As I was making dinner I was getting more and more aggravated and told my husband that if I hadn't quit, I'd be outside smoking right that minute. Realized afterwards that I never was really tempted to get and smoke a cig - just relating how I coped with stress in the past. Later when thoughts crossed my mind again, the words, "I could go and smoke, but I CHOOSE not to" immediately popped up and that was it. I feel like I've made so much progress - esp since last time I felt like that I caved. So, for all you people just starting out, know that it DOES get easier. If you give into the cravings you invite them to come back for more - if you fight them, they do weaken. Not to say I won't have more struggles, but so far I'm winning the war! Another interesting thing - we're all a bit under the weather here and have a dry hacky cough. Every time I cough I just think about how much WORSE I would feel if I were still inhaling on those cancer sticks!
