Help What's up with week three?

Debbie, Thanks for the encouragement and the smile. I guess you are right, as moms we never quit yelling. I have to find a new way to reward myself. I have rewarded myself so much with food that even on a diet I have gained seven pounds :) Of coarse the lady at the weigth loss place is afraid to say anything to me. The last time she told me to watch my snacking I yelled at her :eg: My goal next week is to not yell at the nice lady. Once again thanks for being there. Hi Everyone, Just wanted a little advice from all the veterans. I am now in week three and it has been very rough. I am not sure why, but I have been thinking about smoking more this week then last week. I know that I have come too far to go back, but I thought by this point I would have stopped yelling at everyone. On top of everything else, ever time I try to start this discussion, I some how delete the message just as I am ready to post. I guess it has just been one of those weeks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated by me and especially my family :) Julie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 376 Amount Saved: $45 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 18 Mins: 49 Seconds: 54

Chicknoodle, Stormy, Aunt Deb and Dutch Fini, Thank you for all your support. Your post helped me once again focus on the reasons why I quit. Aunt Deb, I agree. Day one was the worst day. I remember counting down the hours until I could just go to bed. I have to say it has gotten a lot better. Today has been a pretty good day. I took the children out shopping. Dutch Fini, I like yourself have always been a people pleasure. It does feel good to stand up for yourself. I am still trying to do that in a nice way. I hope everyone has a good evening. Once again thank you for all the support. JT (welcome to the club) Look on the bright side of this... "If you were going cold-turkey...it would be 10 times as bad"!! Remember when that nagging emotion comes popping in your head :eg: (it's your addictive brain, nicodemon)wanting to hide your real feelings behind the cloud of smoke. I know at week three, I too...was thinking a lot about lighting up. What kept me from it was fear of going back to day one of the quit. ....Agggggghhhhhhh N.O.P.E (NOT EVEN GOING TO HAPPEN) You want to be free? Become the master of your feelings, (think before you speak, but let others know your displeasure if needed, become assertive in your communication) Each puff you don't take will bring the craves to end a whole lot sooner. Rationalize your feelings out; Guilt, Anger, Anxiety, are you mad at someone for not doing something? Are you discouraged from the loss of your best bud (Mr. Nic...he's not your friend, he's going to kill you) Does your tongue feel like it's going to go through the roof of your mouth from wanting so bad just one puff? Don't worry, know this is part of the process and it will pass very soon. But whatever you do...don't even take a drag...!! You will just increase the cravings and prolong the withdrawal. Reward yourself, look at the most important reason your quitting. This reason is what your reward should reflect! Example: Some say their health is very important, Reward yourself with something that will reflect your good health... (a new blush to pink up your cheeks, excerise equipment to tone up your muscles, a trip to the produce market to get some healthy exotic fruit full of nutrition) Is it to save money?...hey...this ought to be fun...what would you buy with $45? Maybe you want to set an example for your kids....take them out for Pizza as their new Non-Smoking Mom or........Just go outside and take a real deep breath now! Do it again in 2 weeks, and note the difference in your lung capacity! YOU CAN DO THIS JT..."We All Know You Can" auntdeb ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,679 Amount Saved: $156.75 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 14 Mins: 59 Seconds: 1

Hang in there Julie! Give yourself a break! Your body is still healing! Have you rewarded yourself for an awesome three weeks? And honestly, as a mother, do we ever stop yelling? LOL Truly, slow down a little, breathe deep and be proud of what you have already accomplished! When times get tough, come to the SSC and read and post, then read and post some more! Take good care of yourself, stay strong and enjoy the benefits of your new smoke free life!!!!! Hi Julie, Even though the nicotine is gone from your body, still you have other chemicals from cigarettes that your body must get rid of. This takes some extra time and it makes the little "monster" kick, scream, whine, and do all those nasty little things to us to try to stay alive. Dig your heels in and refuse to give it what it wants and it will eventually give up and die. Hang in there. To your family: Be proud of Julie and be patient. She needs pampering, understanding, and REWARDS! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,607 Amount Saved: $750 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 21 Mins: 52 Seconds: 13

Hi Julie, For some reason all things that have to do with 3 seems to be hard. 3 Days, 3 weeks, 3 months and so on... I have no idea why but maybe someone else can tell you. As for the yelling....Doesn't it feel good to do that....lol. I always was a very quiet person and since I've quit I just say everything to anyone when something happens that I don't like. It feels good to me.
