I haven't really started into a grieving period yet, but I won't be surprised if I do.
When I was smoke-free for a few months back in 2004-5 I did go through a grieving period. I felt like a part of me was dying. The addict in me... that person I had identified as "me" for so many years was 'passing away'. It was actually a very sad time.
But, it was good grief . That part of my identity had to change... or rather, it now has to, as it's turned out.
Anyone else gone through that? Or going through that?

Looking,
I went through that too the last time I quit and haven't gone through it yet this time either. I remember though finishing all of the "disinfecting" from smoking (which I am still going through...just today I cleaned out the inside of my car after almost 3 months) and coming to the point where all of the cleaning and ridding of cigarettes was over. I was like, "what next"? I was in limbo with my life and didn't know where to go next and missed the cigs as they gave it the ebb and flow that was missing.
I guess that's a turning point we all will have to deal with. For me I hope something small will work and not a new house or a new job, but maybe a date sporting my new self. :)

Yes...my grieving started about 3 weeks into my quit...it's when I started haveing those...BLAH DAYS
(I know everybody here knows what a blah day is..right guys?)
I don't think I'm through with the grieving yet because I can't seem to get on with things. I stay at this site a lot to read. I feel like the baby that just learned how to walk and is afraid to let go of Mama's skirt tail.
Guess it's time to take a vacation from the SSC for awhile.
