Hi, I'm trying again

Hey I have been smoke free since Sunday Jan 28th at 8 PM but who is counting. I smoked for 35+ years through 2 pregnancies since you were allowed to smoke back then. I have smoked for so long I forgot how not to smoke. I have quit twice before but for 6 weeks, 1 time was cold turkey, the next I used Zyban. I have been taking Chantix and well between the Chantix and a straw I have been successful so far and will contine to be successful I keep telling myself I can have a cigarette anytime I want I just choose not to smoke. I am scattered though as you can probably tell from my typing. I am having a hard time concentrating. I spent half the day yesterday working on a schedule for something only to find out I was scheduling the wrong thing and to make it worse what I was scheduling was obsolete. I am allowing myself a few days to be scattered but have to figure out what to do since if I keep this up I will not be around for long. Anyhow I am quitting because I want to and my kids, my gransdon, my mom and the rest of my family want me to but most importantly I awnt to. My husband on the other hand doesn't want to quit so I live with a smoker at home. The good news is he travels for a living, the bad news is he is home this week but that's ok. I don't want to smoke. Good luck to everyone and good luck to me

Hi Bullseye Yep I'm on UK time here and now 24 hours and 15 mins into my second attempt Just gone back over my old postings on this site back in May of last year and the motivation in my posts when I hit 21 days and then 30 days is great to look back at. I want that feeling back again so bad I know what to look out for this time - the temptations etc and I'm prepared to face them head on. Back to drinking water and chewing my gum and it's working Off to bed now as last night, my first with the patch on I didn't get much sleep so I'm going to try and get a bit tonight and catch up Hope to speak with you tomorrow and well done on your six days Joanne Formally Brickwall My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: 0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Quit last May but only lasted six weeks before evil Nic got me back into his fold again. Well I;m back to try again - ( was called Brickwall last May, but since I didn't smash the brickwall I decided to change my name ) Had my last cig at 22.15 last night, now just under an hour away from completing my first 24 hours without a cig. Using patches like last time, more prepared this time as I know what to expect............. Know what to look out for - when I would normally light up a ciggie Going to give it my all, and fingers crossed my hubby is joining me this time Joanne My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: 0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Hi Joanne I'm on uk time as well. This is my 4th (and final) quit so dont worry about trying again. I'm also using the patches and I found that after only a couple of days (I'm onday 5) I'd managed to overcome alot of @triggers@ such as coffee, wine etc. The worst one was actually the ironing would you beleive?! Reason being I would get so bored doing it I would have a cig just to break up the monotony. When I eventually did it (smoke free)last Sunday I was amazed how easy it actually was (alot quicker too). I know I am alot more prepared too and I think from the tone of your post so are you. As you say as long as you know when you would normally light up you can have something else lined up to do instead. I am sure you can do it Joanne. GO FOR IT!! Karen xx

Joanne: Welcome back, we'll take you under any name you choose! Your last quit taught you a lot, I can tell. You came back because you want to quit and you know this support site can do wonders to keep you quit. I'm with Katy, though. Watch your language with words like "hope", "trying", etc. You are stronger than your addiction -- let's prove it! Keep the faith My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 113 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,558 Amount Saved: $904 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 21 Mins: 40 Seconds: 9
