Weight at a stand still.....getting frustrated!!!

17 years ago 0 392 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Right after I quit, like the next week, I began a kickboxing class and started watching my calories. It seems like I'm just staying at one weight, I guess I'm fighting off gaining weight, but I am busting my tail and not seeing any results.... Looking for a chocolate cake!!! sugarnose - I exercised quite abit when I first quit too but I still gained weight. Unfortunately, I also ate more and my choices had more to do with what I wanted rather than what was healthy. I wouldn't change what I did during that time. The exercise helped deal with anxiety/stress and probably reduced the amount of weight gained. Quitting was one of the hardest things that I have ever done - I couldn't imagine trying to diet at the same time (although others do make healthier choices than I did) In the last 1 - 2 months I have lost the weight I gained and learning how to live and eat healthy has become a new obsession. There are web sites with lots of help re: diet...There are also people here who have lost weight successfully in a number of different ways. By the way - Congrats on 36 days AND kickboxing (that is HARD work!) Hi sugarnose, I know exactly how you feel. I'm the same!! My weight hovers slightly up then slightly down - no matter how much dieting I do. I've been very busy at work recently, so no time whatsoever to do any exercise. This is key to losing weight and keeping trim, I reckon. So, I will bear with it and exercise as much as I can in the next few days!! I think you're on the right track with the kickboxing! I ran almost every day the first few months of my quit, basically killed myself, and same thing happened to me...no weight loss. But I did gain muscle, stamina, and endurance...and looked good! This has continued all year, I've kept active, but my metabolism has slowed down I guess because I have stayed the same weight wise. I am just happy that I didn't gain a ton of weight (like others I have known-avg. is 30 + pounds!) and have kept my healthy habits (and I have to have choc. everyday...it keeps me sane). Give yourself a break (mentally) because you are doing the right thing by exercising...and kickboxing is great because it gets all your anger out! I have tried to have the attitude that I need to worry more about living a healthy lifestyle than whether I lose a bunch of weight, I'm sure my metabolism will kick in eventually. Also another thing I have continued doing is pilates stretches (20 min-3X per week)...those exercises stretch you out, so you look longer and leaner and the exercises seriously don't take a lot of time. I use the book "Pilates Promise" by Alycea Ungaro...easy to follow, seemingly easy exercises, and definitely effective. Good luck and keep up the kick boxing! It is worth it to keep on even if you aren't seeing results on the scale, you will feel awesome...I promise! Sugar, It will take some time to see your results. The important thing is that you are maintaining and becoming active. This is great for you and your health. A piece of Chocolate Cake never hurt anyone, so please indulge..just not every day :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
