Day 1 and I am going to need some patches for this.

smoked1 They work...but the new Chantix med is better/Dr has to prescribe though. You won't have cravings like with other things. Chantix doesn't put nicotine in your system either. The patches still put nicotine into your system, and when you quit, you will have withdrawal and cravings. auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 685 Amount Saved: $68.18 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 0 Mins: 11 Seconds: 31

Patches are working for me hon. I'm a re quitter and the 1st two times I was only using the 14 mg..I've smartened up in many ways,, using the 21 mg patch now and a completely new ATTITUDE towards this quit! This mg is working really well for me. Everyone is as unique as their quit.. won't hurt to try it.. :) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 73 Amount Saved: $27 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 54 Seconds: 41

Hi Smoked - I used the patches and they helped alot. The first three days are still rough (as our body gets used to a lower dose of nicotine) but they definately take the edge off. I've lost track of time but it's been quite awhile since I finished the patches....Hope they work for you too! Like so many others, I'm using the patch too. Don't do this on your own if you find it difficult, the patch and other NRT's are there to help you. Take all the help you can get. Patches seem to have worked for a whole load of people here - Chantix I've heard good things about too. I quit cold turkey, after a session of hypnotherapy (I'm not sure what that did, but I'm still quit!!) I think the important thing is quitting, no matter how! Hope your day gets a little better! Smoked1, Learn from this experience. Yes the patches will help you but it is still a good idea to keep distractions and other coping strategies close. Also don't forget to reward yourself. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Deli I also went cold turkey with 2 sessions of hypnotherapy. I never did have any withdrawal symptons. I lost all desire to ever light up. I tried the patches about 4 years ago. I did the program exactly like they prescribed except I started with 14mg. I quit for a year then went back. I guess I just didn't have the desire like I do now to never light up. There is difinatley no miracle drug. You have to have more desire and determination to quit more than a desire to light up. Smoked1 do whatever it takes for you to keep your quit. Only you knows what helps you. It CAN be done. N.O.P.E. I used patches and I thought they really did help....not that I still didn't have cravings, but the patch took off the "edge" and made the whole process bearable. just don't smoke....no matter what! It takes a couple of days for your body to aclimate to the steady dose of nicotine that the patch delivers.....you may experience spaciness? Just hang tough and don't smoke! The members have shared their experiences with you. Take the time to check with your pharmacist and come up with a plan that is right for you :) Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
