Shebear,
Way to go! But hold the phone a minute. Enjoy the 2 days of a non-smoker, but at the same time, realize that you have a tough up hill battle on your hands. Its going to take all your efforts to do this, so please stay alert and use all the tools to fight this urge as it wants to see you fall. So keep your guard up and fight that urge. When it gets hard, you have to get tough. 10 bucks a pack? Wow, I only had to pay 4 bucks!
Good luck to you and keep your head in the battle!

Way to go she-bear! My cravings were at night instead of the morning...but I was pretty sure that I was going to go stark crazy. Too bad it is so cold...the walk to work would be a PERFECT way to deal with cravings...I've turned from a night person to a morning person so going to the gym before work has been a lifesaver re: dealing with stress.
We all have lots of different tools - gum, sugarless candy, carrot sticks, straws, walks, gym, crossword puzzles (Not sure how you would do a crossword puzzle while getting ready for work???)...but I hope you find some tools that work for you. One day at a time.......it does get better!

I was thinking the same thing. Ursula must be Canadian. Like me, I paid 8-9 dollars a pack. Its nice to save that money!
Cheers, Jan

Wow Ursula, $10 a day saved already just think by the end of the week that is $70, sounds like a pretty nice reward to me. And then come to think of it $70.00 a week times 4 weeks is $280 for a month. The reward for a month is really sounding good now. And at 3 months that would be $840 and that is just the amount of money that you will be saving now check out your quit meter and figure out much life gained that will equal up to. So there is nothing to lose here and everything to gain.
I know what you mean about the smell, my house is awful. Have been cleaning it a little at the time. Funny thing is I never noticed it so much before. Even clothes in the closets stink. May need to invest in a new washing machine and dryer by the time I get all that funk out of my house, clothes, furniture, car, etc. but that won't be part of my reward.
Stay strong as each day that passes it even sweeter.

Shebear,
Congratulations on getting over this huge crave! The first week isn't easy. Just keep doing what you're doing and don't forget to reward yourself for the small victories of the day!

Read and post here all you can. Baby yourself as if you had the flu, curl up in your favorite jammies and listen to some nice music. Have some "comfort" food. Drink lots of orange juice.
A wonderful lady (Rusty) on here told me that when I was first quitting and it helped me through those first tough days.
Be proud of yourself and reward yourself for every day you quit this awful habit. Smell the clean fresh air. Just know that you are going to feel better than you have in a long time.
Its not easy but its worth it!!

Today is day 2 and I have had the worst morning of my life.I am a morning ,or I should say was a morning smoker.I would light up before my feet hit the floor. My craving was so intense I was ready to waLK the 20 mins to the store and 20 mins back,in -20c weather.I was making my self sick. But I did not cave.I came and read and read, and noticed how many cigs people have not smoked. In 7 days thats 1 week,it's 150 cigs.In 1 month at 25 a day that is 750 cigs.OMG I have smoked for 35? years. My calculator does not go that high.So I figure I have had over my share. The craving is gone for now. Then I thought last night d/h came home from work and boy did he ever stink ugh.I spent all day yesterday trying to make the house smell a little better and what does he do but light up.I told him it reaks. He is to quit also.If not we made a deal to go outside. In one day I could not believe that I could smell what an awful stench it has the first evening.OK I'll stop for now,but I'll be backkkk.
thanks for listening to the rambling ursula
