Thanks for another great thread-idea, JohnW! You are our hero! I'm Mardi, aka Cold Turkey, aka Mc, a nickname that evolved fm my maiden name, McAllister. I'm 44 & I'm still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up. So far I've tried & eliminated Rock Star, Social Worker, Legal Aid & Financial Wizard. At the time of this writing I am employed by a Sheriff's Dept in Florida. Married, two grown sons & one 15 y/o dtr; a very old but very independent cat & one high-maintainance Blue Heeler (Aus. Cattle Dog). It all keeps me fairly busy. In fact, I cannot figure out how I ever had so much time to smoke! Don't smoke, okay? It's bad for you. mc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/31/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 498 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,475 Amount Saved: $1992 Life Gained: Days: 49 Hrs: 20 Mins: 3 Seconds: 12

Hi JohnW - I, too, am semi-retired from this site but it is still precious to me because with out everyone here I would probably not have made my FINAL quit. I live in Iowa where we have had no snow and not much cold weather this year - but we still have a couple of months to go. I smoked for 60 years and quitting was almost out of the question for me but with a lot of prayers and the help of the STOP SMOKING CENTER I am still smoke-free. Thanks to all of you. Hi there, I am one of the newbies. Although I did try to quit on this site a few times before. This is the first time I am seriously getting into it and joining the rest of you in these forums. :) I am a 33 year old living in Halifax, NS, Canada. I work for the Dept of Justice and I am a newlywed (got married last August :) ) with a 2-year-old Golden Retriever who is our baby. I too enjoy going for walks, with my dog. I sometimes try to run (she really loves that) although I am not very good yet. The plan is to do more in the spring (I refuse to run in the winter) when I am a non-smoker and my lungs have healed themselves. Karen. I love you, JohnW. You are a friend to all and much loved by everyone who comes in contact with your joyful spirit. Here's my info: I have been quit for two years, many thanks to JohnW and others. I'm 57, married, 3 cats own me, work full time for state government in Florida, I'm a volunteer tutor for people learning English. I have two grown sons, one in Mexico and one in NYC. I walk a lot too, although JohnW and I have never run into each other on any of our walks. I love to travel, which is a good thing, because I travel a lot in my job.
