Hi Friends and again, John W, thanks for your input the other day. I'm from New York, I'm in accounting. I'm married to my first love, we just celebrated our 29th New Year's kiss. I have a young daughter. I'm almost 45 and I've smoked since I'm 44. I have a lovely family who drive me crazy but my extended family (Aunts, Uncles) are all from Ireland. I visit there every two years. I'm doing pretty good today. LOL Kaiti. John W - I like this post as well. I'm 50, have one daughter in college, and I teach graphic design courses at a college. Unfortunately, it's not the same one... she's 4 hours away. I smoked for 32 years. I plan to get back into some good exercise very soon. I used to play raquetball quite a bit, and would like to start playing again. My goal is to begin travelling during the summer months, doing some type of volunteer or educational thing. Smoking would get in my way, and that was one of my reasons for really wanting to quit. Smokeless In Oklahoma..nice thread and good inspiration to the first time quitters...You show us it can be done and maintained along with all the other Veteran quitters. What's even better is the caring from everyone here. I'm a Grandma(56)/mother of 3/married/temorarily unemployed and live in a little rural town in Southern Ohio. Ohio just passed a statewide no smoking Ban (Public and Work). Just moving back from the smoke free state of Florida in May, I'm used to this. I'm glad I wasn't employed when they passed it? Horror of Horrors!! This is the best site I've ever visited for support... thanks John for your support auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 492 Amount Saved: $48.7 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 10 Mins: 34 Seconds: 53

Nice thread... I'm 39 year's old (will be 40 this summer, yikes!), mother of two, wife of just one, and I live in the U.S. in Michigan. I have been smoking since I was 22, but my parents smoked all my life. Many family trips, locked in the car with two smoker's and the window's rolled up! I'm 9 weeks smoke free today. Even though I'm so happy to be smoke free, I will not let my gaurd down...not today...tomorrow or in 6 months. This is just to important. I do not want to become a tobacco statistic. Thanks, the future looks bright as a non-smoker Kaiti My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,399 Amount Saved: $346.5 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 17 Mins: 46 Seconds: 25

Thanks for the thread John. I am 62 and have been smoking for 50 years. Married with 2 grown children. I have 30 years of continous sobriety. I have wanted to quit smoking ever since I got a year of being sober. Well each year I kept putting it off, so now 30 years later I have almost 30 days :) I have had two sisters die from lung cancer and a brother from kidney cancer and heart problems. Reasons to quit, but have put it off for a long time. One sister at 63 and the other at 64. Brother at 72. Now some of young ones may think those ages are old, they are not. I am the at the age that one of them was told they had it. Scare, yes. But life will be what it is suppose to be. Now John you are going to love this, I am from Nebraska and a big Husker fan :eg: SSC was the best thing I have found on the internet. Hello, I'm Mister Ed. JohnW, it's good to do this, especially with the new quitters joining! I am one of the UK contingent, from North East London, though my family originate from Wales (where DELI lives). PENITENT is only a few miles away from me, and PHIL isn't far either. Others in the UK include OINKOINKTOYOU, SHARONMCLAUGHLIN, FAGASHLYNNE, RACHEL, LILLY, BOGBOTT and new quitter TODASH. I'm sure they'll be replying to you soon... all the best JW Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 330 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,918 Amount Saved: 2475 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 20 Mins: 57 Seconds: 4

guess I should include that I smoked for ~20 years before I realized I needed to regain control from this addiction... as they say 'denial' ain't just a river in Egypt. Glad to be among some good folks here. keep fightin' the good fight - fish :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 384 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,536 Amount Saved: $1920 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 23 Mins: 11 Seconds: 13

Because of people like you JohnW this site is what it is - a God-send. You older folks are my heroes - I want to be like you when I grow up... Name's Todd. Currently residing in Richmond, VA. I'm single (why, hello, ladies;) ) I've got some family in the area here, Mom, Pops(step-dad), one of 3 brothers (who is about to marry my future sister-in-law). Other 2 brothers are in NY and PA - Sister out in IL. I have dogs vicariously - dog-uncle, I guess that makes me. I surf, climb rocks, play guitar, paint sometimes, make pottery - also, sometimes, 2 time marathon (full 26.2 miles - for those scoring the game at home) finisher since I quit smoking, many other various, eclectic, sundry hobbies/activities contrary to a smoking lifestyle. I'm 33 and work for a political consulting company - though I'm looking to transition into a different line of work soon. Good to meet you. keep fightin' the good fight - fish :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 384 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,535 Amount Saved: $1920 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 23 Mins: 2 Seconds: 7
