Hello my friends
Today is a good day for me indeed...For too many years my dependence on this drug has kept me in chains and unaware...That is ending now and I couldn't be happier...
My niece has just begun her first gig out of college as a set designer for a community theater. She is a very bright and creative person and has chosen a difficult road for herself. However, it is her road and for that I am very happy. I would much rather see her as a struggling set designer than an unhappy lawyer or something...
When she and her brother where growing up, I would always show up at the house after being in some god awful place in the world that I just had to explore. In any case I would always tell them stories of the things I had done and seen and as little kids they would draw pictures and ask "is this what that place looks like" or "is this how far it is from here" (pictures of airplanes going across mountains and such)...But when they drew me, they always point out that I was smoking a butt...This of course was a plea to me to stop doing it and I as a very bright adult would say "oh yea, I will stop someday"...Well I guess that someday is here...
This will be the first time that she will see me as a non-smoker and I couldn't be happier...It should be an interesting weekend, she has decided that I should not spend money on a hotel, but should crash at the house (10 artists of various description living there). Thats alright with me, it will take me back down the road a few years in any case...
There are many good things about quitting, some not as obvious as others...
