Loulou, Welcome to the SSC! Take advantage of this spare time to discover new passions and interests to replace your old habit. Also be sure to work through our online quit program. It will help you put together a plan to help you conquer cravings. Our forums are also filled with advice from quitters that have come before you. We hope to hear from you again soon. Congratulations on your quit! Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi there Loulou,
I find myself with spare time, and I also find the day drags on, the hours go by slowly.
I'm no mathmatician but here goes...... 30 cigarettes a day x 10 minutes each = 300 Minutes or.... 5 hours of sucking on a fag a day ! :8o: wake up & smell the roses cos you've just gained lets see...... 1 cigarette = 10 minutes & we usually smoke 3 cigarettes in 1 hour so this means we spent 30 minutes an hour sucking on a cigarette. According to my calcs, you've just gained yourself 30 minutes every hour. so in reality - each hour actually has 90 Minutes, so you're not far wrong. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 730 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 18,273 Amount Saved: $4745 Life Gained: Days: 105 Hrs: 13 Mins: 57 Seconds: 30

Hi Loulou. Fellow cold turkey quitter here. Oh the time goes so slow during those first few days. Don't worry, time will speed back up. You will also be amazed at how much time you use to spend smoking. You are about to have some free time on your hands. Now is a good time to start a new hobby. One that occupies your mind and your hands. Congralations on your decision to take your life back! Take it 5 minutes at a time, take a lot of deep breaths and continue to drink a lot of water. You CAN do this and you will be so glad you did. This will not be easy but we can help ease the way :) You will have more time and this is great! Prepare for this by making a list of activities, chores and even hobbies. This will keep you occupied.
