My first day without a cigarette

17 years ago 0 1 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi everyone, I have tried to quit smoking off and on for years. I even made my husband smoke outside the last time. I've finally made up my mind that I'm ready to leave the nicotine behind. I'm at work right now and it's a smoke free office. I know it's already starting to bother me that I would like to go outside & have a ciggie. But today I didn't have any and I decided not to stop and get any. Also, does anyone know why I can't download the workbook? I hope to stop by here on a daily basis, so I'll talk to you all later. Karrie

Hi Karrie, Congrats on day one and welcome aboard. I am not sure about the workbook. This is now my fourth day on the sight. My quit date was Monday. Keep up the good work. Hi Karrie, Congrats on the first day of the new clean smelling you! I kind of did what you did, just didn't hit the store for more. Just take it one hour at a time and educate yourself about why we crave nicotine, etc. Sorry, can't help you with the workbook....Good luck to you! Welcome Karrie, There is a ton of information here about different choices of smoke cessation aides to use if you can not go cold-turkey. (my opinion, cold-turkey is the hardest way..but the fastest to completely get nicotine free quickly) Read, read, read the posts. We all share our feelings, our cravings, our moods, blues, and issues. Just about anything that can go wrong in your quit is discussed here...and if you can't find anything...Post your issue or question...someone will respond...I guarantee it. Good luck auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 977 Amount Saved: $90.25 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 16 Mins: 37 Seconds: 22

Karrie - Hang in there. The first few days are the hardest...that's for sure. Read. Educate yourself. Smoking is killing you. Pick up Allen Carr's book. Whatever it takes. Just be strong and we're here for you. -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 695 Amount Saved: $132 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 1 Mins: 55 Seconds: 43

Welcome and congratulations! You have made it through the hardest part in my opinion, which is getting over the hurdle and STARTING. Tough days ahead but lots of nice supportive people here to help you get through it. Keep posting and reading and maybe most importantly - realize that it does get better, little by little, day by day. I have quit a handful of times in the past but it still has surprised me this time that even at 90-some days, I still continue to feel better in my head each week. Starting to feel downright normal now. Take care, QM My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 96 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,929 Amount Saved: $384 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 22 Mins: 34 Seconds: 39
