Oh my Goodness

Yes, all the money is going to his car. This kid is awesome! When my husband was sent to Iraq, my son "K" was my rock, he jumped in at 12 years old and started doing more around the house to help me out, his grades never endured the pain we all felt while Dad was away. He has never (he is a soph) been below a 3.8 GPA... and I think with all his hard work he deserves a car. I have been saving for a while but the $70 every 2 weeks will be all that much better. He will be 16 at the end of Feb and shhhh he doesnt know this but he is getting a car! I cant ask for a better son... so I want to see him drive to success in a nice car! I got into my car this morning and holy toledo batman it STUNK!!!!!!!!!!! I about gagged, of course I didnt smell that before because I had nicogerms embedded into my nose and couldnt smell anything anyway but OH MY GOODNESS THAT WAS GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think my nose is starting to smell again.. I have my smellers back! Woot!! Day 4 and I had a slight rougher urge today at work than yesterday but I was able to talk myself... wait let me rephrase that, I listened to my heart getting healthier! It told me go smell that stinky car then you wont want one! So I am going to treat my car to a breath of fresh air, because my car deserves it after me making it stink for so long. I dont think the rewards are just for me when I hit a mile marker, I think I should reward my car for putting up with the stinch of smoke and tar. 3 more days and I will have a week under my belt, then I am going to reward ME! Hmmmm maybe a ice cream (non fat of course) I also decided that on pay day I am going to take the $70 that I would be spending and put it in my sons account and post the deposit slip on my mirror so that I can see in the mornings that he is getting closer to getting his car! RAWK ON SMOKE FREE!!!!!!!!!! Pssst... did I mention that Chanel #5 really does smell better than I thought? YAY I have nasal smellers again! Dawn, I did the same exact thing. One of my rewards was a packet of air freshner's for the car....now, my car smells like island vanilla, and I love the smell when I get in! Now...I understand you have boys.....and your sniffer is coming back to life....BEWARE....Boys Break Wind....OMG!!!!! My son STINKS!! Some things I could have lived my entire life without smelling! LOL But other things, I love to smell...the rain, clean clothes, a freshly cleaned house...the smells of x-mas..I could go on and on. Every day, I smell something different..so enjoy!!! I'm very happy for you. You are doing great. And what a wonderful mom. I see you're at day four and already talking about a week. It seems you are not going to let anything like smoking get in your way - LOOK OUT World! live4myboyz, Congratulations on getting your sense of smell back!!! Sometimes, that's more a curse than a blessing, but it's still definitely something to be thankful for. There are so many GOOD things to smell that we didn't get to smell before that makes up for the occasional bad smell that we have to endure. Be grateful! Your body is healing! WOO HOO!!!!!! That is SO sweet that you are spending your cigarette money to help your son buy a new car. Will you be my mom? :) Yes, rewards are definitely not JUST for us... we should also reward those around us for putting up with us when we first quit... and rewarding your car is a nice touch too... hopefully it will be very nice to you back and not ever break down on you. Sounds like you've got Hell Week under control! Way to go! Keep on! Just a few more days and it's on to Heck Week! Crave the Quit! Dawn, It is amazing how our senses are lifted as we quit smoking. I remember moving out of my parents house and my boxes stunk of the smell of cigarettes. They even smoked outside! YIKES! Some days will be harder than others Dawn. Please continue to visit our site and let us know how you are feeling. Support is what we all need during our quits. Remember, we are always here 24/7! All the best to you and your goals as you continue your quit. What a great goal to help your son buy his car. Stay quit and stay strong :). Melanie _______________________ The SSC Support Team
