Week Two - Emotions?

17 years ago 0 2838 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Excellent job at quitting! You will be emotional for awhile. I was also...matter of fact, I still am....come to think of it, I always was!? Hang in there---it does get better. Pop some popcorn and watch a good comedy.....laughter is good for you! 2tone, A challenge: for the next month, try something new or a new place every week. You may not like what you end up try or you may love it! Either way, it'll get you started on finding new passions. Good luck! Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi 2tone. (excuse N2K. She really does type slow :) ) What you are going through is perfectly normal. Emotions seem to soar when we quit. Remember that everything you are experiencing is temporary. You will return to some form of "normal" (whatever that is) in due time. Just remember that everyday you don't smoke is one day closer to never feeling this way again. Sounds like you are doing great to me! Just keep going. You won't regret it. 2tone, I really believe that when we quit, our lives change. The things we did as smokers are replaced by things we do as non-smokers. Pick up a hobby that will take your focus off of smoking. For me it was golf. It occupied me both physically and mentally and I found I really enjoyed it (even if I can't hit the ball very far). Quitting is almost like getting a second chance in life to redefine who you are. You can whipe the slate clean and start again with developing your new non-smoking persona. How many chances in life do we get to do that? This is the first day of the rest of your life. Life is short so make it the best day you can. You will find me saying time and time again that quitting is a life changing, soul-searching experience. Enjoy it! 2tone, boy, you are making me nervous about next week.....that is my 2nd and I do remember the emotional wreck I was the last attempt at quitting. Not fun at all. :( Have you considered personal counselling? Karen. 2tone, how about a day at the spa? A nice long body massage might be just what you need. And it's a great way to get away for some "me" time. Yes, I thought you may think bubbles and massages are too "feminine". Ha ha! I do understand, I am married to a man. Hhmmm....what do you guys do to relax? Football and beer sound good, but maybe you associate those things with smoking? Whatever you need to do, I'm sure you can figure it out. Good luck. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $42 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 17 Seconds: 51
