Hi, I also quit with Chantix after 52 years. But you will still have to never take a puff not ever. I stoped useing the Chantix after 8 weeks. It took me 3 weeks befor I stoped. Once the nicotine is out of your body it's almost easy. If you never want to smoke again. Viola - Don't be too hard on yourself. On my first week of quitting I broke down after 4 days...I'm afraid that I had not prepared for the quit. I smoked on till about 2:30 in the morning on Sunday morning and started fresh the next Monday (WITH MY TOOLS READY) We use aids to take away the cravings. I used the patch...you used Chantix. While they help with our physical addiction, it is up to us to develop the skills to deal with our emotional addiction. We need to learn how to distract ourself when the urge happens, how to change our lifestyle and how to reward ourselves. It's a HUGE learning curve.....but so worthwhile. You learned a valuable lesson - Now is a great time to use the tools on this site to give you the skills to maintain your quit! Hi Vi, Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. This is a life saving decision. I have heard of the drug Chantix, I hope that this is the one that will help you continue on your quit journey. Welcome to SSC, you will find lots of people willing to help whenever you need it. So post as often as you would like and read and read some more. We are all different, but we all know what you are going through. You are already on day 2, in a few days all the nicotine will be gone from your system. As we sometimes call it you are in hell week, and you don't want to go through that week again. I hope you have a plan, please use the tools to the left. Please stay positive, determined, and inspired to quit. Don't let anything come between you and your quit. Stay busy, exercise, find a hobby, and don't forget to breath really deep and blow out very slowly. Drink lots of water to help flush your body out. Always be on guard, you never know when those thought of smoking will appear out of nowhere. You sound very determined, and that is good. Just remember why you are quitting, go back and read or print it out so you can carry it with you. Again, welcome to SSC. I look forward to your posts and watching you grow.
