Yo Bobby. I just wanted to say that if you check back on this thread over the next few days..(Christmas)..that there are lots of new quitters going through the same angst. (all that stuff that comes with Christmas). Too bad there wasn't a mental channel that all we recent quitters could just 'access' by closing our eyes, coming together, and 'group think' all the yucky craves away. Maybe we are doing that. ? ! ? Congrats on your 2nd day Wishing - I don't know why quitting sometimes takes several tries although I'm starting to think I might have an idea. For me, quitting is a process that involves learning new skills and jumping over new hurdles along the way. We are often prepared for the physical addiction but we have no idea how much of an "emotional" addiction we have when it comes to smoking. Now we need to learn new ways to deal with stress, new ways to deal with boredom, new ways to reward ourselves, etc etc. Sometimes we hit a hurdle and we don't yet have the skills to get over it. (Or we don't think that we do) If this happens to you, it's time to post...the members here will usually help to drag you over that hurdle and away you go again!! Sometimes we think that things are just gliding along smoothly and we trip over some small hurdle that we never expected. If we fall, we need to dust ourselves off, figure out where we went wrong and get ready when we hit that same spot on the next journey. You can do this...We are here to help you along the way! Hi Bobbby and welcome to SCC - You have joined an amazing community here. I smoked for 27 years and didn't think that I could ever quit. Through this community I have gained the skills and the confidence to believe that I can. It's not always an easy journey but it is a rewarding one. I used the patches too (I believe i finished the end of them about 3 weeks ago). Despite the patches, I'm afraid that I made it through the first 2 weeks by the skin of my teeth....but as time went on, I do they believe that they helped ease the physical dependence while I worked on all the other stuff. Keep posting and use all the helpful tools on this site. Ask lots of questions....there will always be someone to help. Congrats on the first day of your journey to freedom! Bobby, See, you're really beating this thing. First week is always the hardest. Just keep your guard up and remember to be good to yourself. I see you're posting a fair bit, good for you! Its one of the best coping tools I know. Hi Bobby, and welcome! As you can see, there's lots of great support here. I too am starting my quit...again. Jan 1/07. It takes a few times to get it right. Take this journey one day at a time, one hour at a time if need be. Keep a journal as well. And post often...it really helps. All the best to you Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0
