Hi. I'm new here!!

Hi. I am a 36 year old Mom of three great kids who has smoked for about 7 years since a depression. Prior to that I was a social smoker who only smoked when with others who did. I smoke about 6 cigarettes a day but go for a few days here and there with none. It seems like a mental and emotional dependency for me more than an addiction. I want to quit !! I know the battle will be when I get depressed or upset or anxious. I also know that cigarettes do not make me feel much better.... I hope to meet friends here who can help me stop. I joke that smoking is as close as I have ever come to "trying to kill myself!" I guess it is partly true....

Alabed Welcome, you've landed in the right place. Whether you smoke a lot or a little, for decades or years I feel this website can be beneficial to you. I recommend you work through the quit program tools and think about setting a quit date. We will be here to support you the whole time. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!! Hello Alabed Welcome to SSC! I know the decision to quit can be a tough one, but think of those great kids, you want to be around a long time for them. I recently found out that when I had stress or depression in my life, that is when I wanted to smoke the most. That was the most difficult time for me. But with the help of this site, God and my family cheering me along, I have made it to 14 smoke free days. You can too, be strong, and use this site whenever you need to, its here 24/7 and someone is always here to help. You will feel so much better and you won't regret quitting. I haven't. I smoked for almost 30 years, 1-1.5 packs a day. I never thought I could quit, I tried so many times and failed. But this time, I found this site, I did the program to the left, I started Chantix (with my doctors approval) and here I am. So you go girl! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 360 Amount Saved: $70 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 40 Seconds: 42

Hello Alabed and welcome. Just because you don't smoke a lot, NOW, does not mean you don't have an addiction. What a great time to quit though before your addition grows. From someone who has smoked for 40+ years it won't get easier to quit as time goes by! Good luck, hope to see you here as a non-smoker. Alabed, Yup, dupe has got it down! Preparation will be a big success factor and the online quit program is wonderful for that. Have you picked a quit date yet or have you already quit? Poke around the site to get an idea of what to expect and know that you aren't alone. Rewards are another important factor and they don't have to be anything huge but something nice for you. Congrats on making one of the best decisions of your life :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 951 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 19,038 Amount Saved: $4279.5 Life Gained: Days: 73 Hrs: 9 Mins: 42 Seconds: 45
