Thanks for all the feedback. Going strong on day 5. I am so excited by my quit. My sense of smell is returning, and my how refreshing that is, at least most of the time. I live in Charlotte, NC, and while we are not the pollution capital of the sout, we definitely have our moments and areas.
To be honest though, the grand grip of the nicodemon tries to lure me at every moment. I have found, stop, take a deep breath, and recommiting to the quit quickly dissolves these urges. Last night, I actually had a period of about one or two hours without an urge.
To CMJ77: Keep strong with Going Cold Turkey. I feel that is overall the best method. The number one thing is conviction. A steadfast goal that can not be disuaded regardless of the circumstances, in this case, not smoking. If one has conviction, then everything else will fall into place. On top of that, remember, all smoking really is... it is the act of breathing dirty air (with a kick of addiction)and in fact paying heavily for that right.
How many of you have burnt clothes, car seats, furniture, etc.?
Lastly....With Each breath, I feel stronger. :)
