this is my 6th smoke-free day...so I know I still have a long way to go, but I like to celebrate the small things :-) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 43 Amount Saved: 10 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 56 Seconds: 3

...of myself. Last night was my first social occasion since quitting, and I survived! I had friends over for a dinner party, with lots and lots of food (I spent all day preparing the food in order to distract myself from my cravings!). Although my husband and one other were smoking between courses, I managed to stay smoke-free! My reaction may sound over the top to some, but this is a big achievement for me. Clare

Clare: That is NOT over the top! We nicotine addicts understand how important each of those milestones are in cementing your resolve and convincing yourself that you can do this. Where's your quit meter? How far in to your quit are you? At any rate, many congratulations to you! Keep the faith -- and your quit! Clare, It is a huge achievement and you have reason to celebrate. Getting through the social aspects of smoking is yet another trigger you are conquering. Each time you fight these trigger's, you are getting stronger, keep up the great fight, your doing wonderfully! Hey I know what an accomplishment that is. You didn't put your meter up so I don't know how long you have been quit but I know it's hard to be around other smokers. My reaction now is that I just feel sorry for them. I'm also still talking to my twin sis to lay them down. She wants to but is still skeptical wheather she can or not. It has to be her decision. I truly agree these support gtoups are very helpful. Lot of luck. I would rather be a non-smoker with the occational crave than to be a smoker always wanting to quit.
