I just read your from Buffalo Jaset and a hockey coach and no, I don't know the answer to your center's senior citizen home, ????, LOL. You must ask him/her to elaborate. I'm from "upstate" New York which is downstate to Buffalo though. My early years - I lived in Ireland as that is where my family is from and still lives. My Aunt, whom I talk to every 3rd Thursday, "takes the piss out" of me all the time. Morning Aunt Deb! I hope you have a great day today! Marie PS: I hope others join in here looking for mentors and mentoring and/or those who have experience to share. I'm not hogging this thread. I'm off work today so feeling mighty good to be able to chill.

Man, Man, how'd I miss this thread - I've been reading an hour, just in from a 16 hour day and have a 4 year old to attend to in, um 3.5 hours! THANK YOU JASET AND AUNT DEB. Jaset, I'm from Belfast LOL, know the pisser :) Aunt Deb and Jaset, I'm going to print your thread and take it with me and go into the bathroom and read it. Aunt Deb, as for work, it's totally Pavlov's system. I ran a law firm for 20 years and moved them 4 times. I'm "part-time" right now for a venture capitalist (I work off hours to be home with my kid) and I'm reverting back to my old days (we'ld go out drinking after a big move too LOL). I'm typing fast as I have to get some sleep. The craves today and yesterday have been BAD. I'm still on Chantix, must carry them with me. It helped when I got home tonight. Let's see so much to say........ Dinner - Jaset and Deb - my friends will be amazed I'm quit, they'll try to sucker me into smoking "you can have a puff" "oh, it's only a social one", etc. It's a bit of a tease to me - we've all been friends, including as couples for 30 years. They will make fun of my husband and I - take the piss out of us Jaset! I'm ok with that. I'll laugh and have fun with them. I'll be proud. But I can't have more than 2 drinks or I'll lose all resolve. It will make me feel good to leave there smoke-free, prideful. And hopefully, my friends will follow suit and quit again and stay quit like I hope to this time. THANK YOU. 3.25 hours left to sleep. :) Hey Marie... I would be honored to mentor you, and I am hoping that the "Wise Jaset" will join us too. Let's start today..2/11/07 I realize yesterday is gone, but we can talk about it for future reference Issue #1 at work/task at hand...moving furniture & files (not your own)why didn't that person clean up their own files?..do you have a little frustration at this?...this frustration is a trigger that you would have swept into the dusty backdrawers of your mind by lighting up a cigarrett to stimulate you into physical action or anticipated as a reward for being a good girl (and not speaking out that is is not your YOB). At work, perhaps we can not always choose specific words we would like to say, but we can be direct in communication. Fact is Marie: you shouldn't actually be having nicotine cravings right now (the nicotine is gone from your body)what you are experiencing is "Pavlov's Dog symptoms"...LOL ..that's right! Emotions now are the actual Triggers. When one hits you, think...what is this feeling: anger, anxiety, frustration, joy, sadness??????? or even jealousy! these feelings are connecting to the brain that used to tell you to light up and the physical movements...tongue pushing against the roof of your mouth, cheeks moving in anticipation of a cigarett (nothing more) As soon as you start practicing this...and recognizing the feelings...you will have less and less triggers (thus..less cravings as everyone seems to call them) Issue# 2 Ahh...Dinner out...at a smoker's house! All right Marie...you are a big girl... How many days have you got behind you smoke free? If my memory serves me right...it's about three less than me... and you are on Chantix still? Even if you are not, you should be extremely proud that you are a non-smoker, and it's ok to feel a little "smug" at this point of your accomplishment! and you have accomplished something terrific. (take yourself back to another quit in the past where you caved the first day...remember?) You will have a wonderful time in the "New You"! Your friends love you, and they will be impressed when you don't accept a cigarret from them (you keep this one thought in your head...all night...N.O.P.E.) AND...Remember that you have gained control, and if you do take a drag o

Hold the phone partner in crime. Hello Marie, allow me to introduse myself. My name is jaset, the pisser off of all sort to speak! lol. J/K. Marie, a smoke after a great meal is the altimate! But to be with smokers during that great meal is even better. That is, until you have taken the step towards living. Now your friends are your friend and we certainly cant give up the people that we love, now can we? But, we can look at them while they smoke and think to ourselves that they are in for a life of misery and torture. Use those friends to enhance your quit. Look at them drag on the cig and then look at them blow it out. Dont forget to listen to the sudden cough as the exhale. But keep in mind that they are your friends for sure. Look at there fingers to. A little brown? Sure, why not? You controll your urge, you dont concintrate on there urge. You have your own to deal with. You will notice how great you feel to be among smokers once you can control your urge. Your urge is all that matter. You will feel great when you are among other smokers. Thats because you are in control and you know what will happen to you if you continue to invade your lungs with cancer. So be proud of your urge and how you will kill it. Jaset

Aunt Deb, Thank your for volunteering to mentor FFM. The buddy system is a great strategy to help get through the hard times. You are both sure to benefit! Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team
