Misty, The concensus on this is varied. Some members find it helps to reinforce their quit because they are able to get mad at their addiction. Others find it is very tempting in times of weakness and having cigarettes in their possession is threatning to their quit. Everyone is different and you should choose what you think will work best for you. However, if you think you can go without having them in your possession, why waste more money? You don't need them. You're a non smoker now. :) Danielle _______________________- The SSC Support Team

Now, Misty - let's think about this... Quitting smoking is one difficult journey through hell several times (or more)... for many of us, quitting is the most difficult thing we've done. This addiction is really no different in my mind, than heroin...that needle hanging out of your arm? An addiction that rules our lives day and night... we leave our friends, kids, family - to go smoke. People on oxygen turn it off to smoke after being diagnosed with lung cancer? Keep a back-up pack? I have a feelin, and am really hoping Rusty will be along soon to shed some light... NO backup pack, friend. You smoke or you don't. Why would a non-smoker have a pack of cigs...? nope. unfortunately 1 year, 6 years or 10 years quit ..... it makes no difference to an addict ! however, it doesn't change the fact that i have a packet of tobacco, papers & filters stored away in my back cupboard at work.... just can't let go dammit. Personally??? I think it's a very BAD idea....smokes are for one thing....a backup of smokes is for one thing......now ask yourself what that one thing is??? the next question is what does quitting smoking mean to you??? I know in my heart that had I kept smokes at hand when I quit, I would never have succeeded....perhaps some can do this....but I would have failed.....why take that chance??? do you intend to quit and be successful???? then WHY do you need those smokes at hand??? You say you keep them to ward off panic??? I really don't think so....I think you keep them to satisfy the junky.....he know there is a chance, however slight, if you still feel the need to have a stash. and those are my feelings ;p stomp the junky and trash the stash Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1821 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 72,878 Amount Saved: $10379.7 Life Gained: Days: 237 Hrs: 15 Mins: 31 Seconds: 37
