Thanks. I just wanted to let all of you know that I am in therapy now and re-working the medication ideas as well. I'm trying to make use of all of the resources I can in order to beat this thing!

lexi, try not to worry so much about when the next panic episode will start. I know it's hard not to because that's a part of this disorder always worrying will I wake up tommorow and feel worse and how bad will it get before I just lose it all together. But there really doesn't have to be another episode. Now is the time to take all of the necessary steps to get well. Like hopeful said ,see a doctor about medication and get some therapy, read as much information as you can on this disorder and do the panic program. I'm to the point now in my recovery that I no longer think when will it come back and how bad will it be to I'm going to conquer this and not have to be bothered by it anymore. Just like the brain can learn to panic it can unlearn it. It just takes time and you have to never give up stay focused on getting well and beating it and you will. Keep us posted on your recovery.

Thanks. I'll keep trying to hang in here. I guess I'm just thinking a lot about how even if this long episode of panic ends, when will the next one come? I don't want to keep having to fight these, you know? I just want to be happy and not have these reoccuring battles...they are depressing and exhausting, but I'm sure that's been heard/said before right? Ugh.

Hi Lexi, and welcome! Sorry to hear that you are having a bad time right now, we've all been thru that and it does seem like it will never end, BUT IT DOES, and it will for you, too!! I take Ativan as I need it too, it just takes the edge off of the panic, doesn't take it totally away. But you can use the time that you take it to your advantage by practicing changing the way you think while the Ativan calms you some. Do the panic program, see the doc about meds, talk to a counselor, become well informed on this subject. The more you search for info, the more likely you will find something that helps you. Good luck, hope to hear from you soon!

Thanks everyone for the support. Yes, unfortunately one of the biggest problems with my panic is that it feels neverending. Even if I can stop the attack, I usually bring about another one simply by worrying about when I might have the next one. . .and then this cycle starts. I am in the process of making an appointment to see my doctor about meds. Also, I have an apointment with the therapist I saw over the summer this Tuesday. I've been taking doses of Adavan (Atavin) since Tuesday to try and lessen some of the attacks, but even that hasn't left me feeling great, which I guess I am dissapointed about. I never really had to use this emergency med before, so I always assumed if I took it the panic would stop dead in its tracks. Now I feel like "oh no, I am using the back-up plan and the back-up needs a back-up!"

Thanks for the support and understanding everyone, you've all been wonderful and I really appreciate it! :) Lexi, Welcome to the group. I'm really sorry to hear about your vomiting and eating fears. I have the same fears as you but without actually vomiting. The only times I've ever vomited is if I'd been drinking alcohol or been actually sick with flu, things like that. I've thakfully never vomited from anxiety alone. I really really hope that you can find a way to stop that vomiting with your anxiety! Esspecialy since you've suffered with it so long! Hope you don't mind me asking, but are there any patterns you've noticed with your anxiety and vomitting? I think we all get convinced our fears are never going to stop. That in itself is a symptom of panic. I've never taken any medication for panic. But maybe the meds you're taking aren't right for you. Also I've heard a lot of people talk about their symtoms becomming worse before getting better, with meds. take care, hope to hear from you soon. :)

Hi, my name is Lexi and I just joined the group today. I'm having a relapse with my problems too. I have generalized anxiety disorder with panic episodes. Basically, I'm a worry wart who will get these attacks of panic and anxiety out of the blue. What I get is really rapid breathing and spinning, and then I throw up. And once it happens then I get scared of the attacks not stopping. . .develop the food fear. . .keep vommitting. . .basically get convinced it will never stop and that I'm going to go on living in perpetual torment. It scares me so badly, and I have had this disorder since I was a kid. Last summer was the first time I ever actually sought real therapy and got on some meds. But now I am even more upset b/c I'm taking the meds and still having a panic attack! I was clean for 8 months, feeling great, and now this has hit me like a bolt of lightning. Anyone out there feel me? Thanks.

Sky, Hang in there! PMS can cause your emotions to go up and down like a yo-yo. Just take it as it comes, perhaps work with your doctor to develop strategies for when this situation arises again. Keep posting, we're here to help. Susanne

Sky, I'm sorry that you are feeling so bad, relapses really are a problem with me, too, and I tend to overanalyze them. I have a bad time around my period, too, it seems to make the symptoms much worse. And you are no drama queen! I'm sending you an email, and you are in my prayers and thoughts!
