That was a close one, huh, Dunedude! Glad to see you so attuned to the presence and hard work of all those nico-angels out there on our behalf. God knows, they've kept me out of trouble -- I hope they get hazardous duty pay when they cover me! Congrats on the step-down! peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 38 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,925 Amount Saved: $209 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 17 Mins: 52 Seconds: 4

Thanks Windy/ Everybody, Yesterday My 1st day down to 7 mg was pretty uneventful. I didn't notice it much at all. I think I was prepared for the change (that day). Today was a different story, It was very wierd all day I was thinking I was a smoker and it was "time" for a smoke. All day I had to remind myself I don't smoke anymore. I believe, like everybody, there is a nicodemon (That part of your mind that wants you to smoke). Let us also consider the opposite of the nicodemon...the nicoangel. Let me give my real life example of the nico-angel at work: unbeknownst to my wife I had been having these weird feelings of being a smoker again, she sent me to the local market to pick up a carton of eggs. Nico-demon was in full effect on the way to the market, he was telling me I can become a closet smoker, like a buddy of mine. I was in line at the market, I think the possibilty of me blurting out my usual order of cigs was most likely at it's highest it's been since my quit. There were two casiers working, and a bunch of us waiting our turn (were waiting for next available casier). When it came to be my turn next...In a blink of the eye, walked in the nicoangel in the form of an old lady! Yeah...She took cut's in front of me!! With fruit, that had to be weighed. And paid with, yup a visa card. I walked up after this lady approached, hence losing my place at other cashier....two people that were behind me finished their business, before I started!! Once it was my turn, ordering cigs was furthest from my mind. *****ing about the old lady taking cuts was....The cashier then said "I know, I am sorry, I know you were next but there was something about her I just couldnt send her to the end of the line." I think I know what that something was----nico angel perhaps? Heck even if it is not that...maybe I'll get a little more compationate....huh, another bonus(?). Btw, all, I was in no REAL danger today...but it was one of the tougest I have seen. Just a reminder to me and all to not let your guard down. Thank you all for your support My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 599 Amount Saved: $133.4 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 5 Mins: 55 Seconds: 20

I'd be lying if I said today was better (or worse)...No real danger..no chain saws. :8o: I told my wife about feeling the effects of stepping down (although nothing compared to 1st day of quitting). I can handle it, it is temporary. She is on a diet...the neighbor brought over 2 lbs of Sees chocolate earlier today. She said at least you dont have 2 lbs of smokes staring at you!! (sigh) my lovley bride has a nac for putting things in perspective. Hey ya'll, I am on the eve of stepping down to 7 mg patch. I feel pretty good about it. I had a couple panic attacks shortly after buying the lowest dose... I think that was more or less a pre-panic attack. In other words I am starting to realise that in 2 weeks I will going nic free. It is taking me writing these words to know I have to take it one day at a time. I have tomorrow to deal with. I will be fine, I know I will, I just want to keep you guys in the loop. I saw a few post over the last few days of missing the "celebratory smoke", after a job well done. Well I have the mother of all "celebratory smoke" moments. Picture my house being in (major) remodeling for 2 years now. On friday we had the carpets installed and put the house back together over the weekend. This marks the 1st x-mas in 2 years the house hasn't been torn apart to some degree or another. It is kinda wierd but I didnt miss the "smoke moment". It is going to be real nice to get the house back in order again. Kaitilina, how are you feeling today? On our Eve of one month..can you believe it?!..I am soo tired after the weekend burnout, I want to stay up after 9 pm so I can see what 1 month looks like!! (I can cheat like that on the west coast). See ya in the morning, though night, night. :) I didn't use the patch, but i have a feeling you will be fine with stepping down. Not missing that "smoke moment" is a sure sign. Hi DuneDad, I am now at the 7mg patches myself and did not feel much difference when I stepped down. I did the NRT a little differently since I was "Highly" addicted and also based on what a pharmacist suggested. 4.5 weeks = 21 mg 4 weeks = 14 mg 4 weeks = 7 mg A very gradual amount that I had time to get used to. Next week, I will be going off the 7 mg...I am not scared anymore as I went according to my own pace which is very slow. The important thing is that it works for me. It will be fine, you'll see. Just keep on posting here. Also, hang in there so that we can all celebrate your 30 days!! Phew - You guys.....sometimes this site is skeeeeeeerier than watching a thriller on the big screen...This near misses are hard on my heart!! I have to admit that I could feel the nicotine coming into my system when I used the 21 mg and the 14 mg patches. I was a little "off" when I hit the 7 mg patch because I didn't feel that much different whether I had it on or not (but I guess that's the idea). I'm still learning how to live my new "smoke-free" life but it's been awhile since the patches were on and it definately wasn't a big step from 7 to 0. Good luck to all of you!
