Welcome to the SSC, Eileen. This is also my fith quit (and I'm determined to succeed this time). Yes, I had stomach problems (constipation, bloating, flatulence, ...) in the first few weeks, but it's geeting better now, nearly back to normal! :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 749 Amount Saved: $370 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 22 Mins: 11 Seconds: 54

124, Yes, the constipation really sucks huh. I used to be so regular. I suffer with that problem everyday. I thought maybe I was the only one with it that bad. I am hoping I will get back to normal at some point. I wish I could help, but at least know you are not alone. Be strong. Hey E-124! Welcome! Are you using NRT or any smoking cessation aids? Sometimes at the beginning of a quit you tend to nibble a bit more than usual (Okay, in my case, I was packing it in by the shovel) Therefore, leading to indigestion, etc... There are a lot of side-effects to nicotine withdrawel. If anything is of concern, you should talk to your Dr. He may be able to prescribe something for the tummy problems. Again, Glad you have joined us! It took about 3 months for all the noticeable physical changes to go away (constipation, bloated, pimples, gas, etc.). Unbelievable the way we were poisoning ourselves. It takes time to get 4,000 types of poisons out of our system. Be patient & no matter uncomfortable they may be, feel grateful that you've woken up to the lies of addiction and are now giving yourself life instead of an early death sentence. Fondly, Free & Congrats on your decision to give yourself life from now on. no, I didn't get stomache problems but I sure got the dizzies so bad I was wondering if it was all worth it. WEll, it is!!! You can do this if your quit is stronger than your want. Eileenpc124, just come here often and get your coping mechanisms ready and ride the wave@!!!! Congrats on trying again. Never give up !! Let me just add that is you are having stomach issues, see your physician, as it maybe something more than the result of quitting. Always good to check in with the doc. CobenFan

Hi Eileenpc124 - Our bodies react in different ways when we Quit, and each of us has different experiences. Work it out with your doc; taking fiber daily helped me a great deal... Lots of water will help as well. 124, Start small and drink lots of water. With your doctor, plan some healthy meals and small portions snacks. Continue with your quit and focus on the journey. Every thing else will fall in place. Make sure you continue to check with your doctor to rule out anything medical :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
