Today is nmy 11th day of quit also. I was also eating alot. What I've started to do is get the sugar free candy. It's has helped. As far as your skin. You've got to remember that you now have gotten rid of the impurities that smoking had caused. My face broke out when I first quit, now it is clearing up better than I can ever remember it. Stick with your quit. In the end you will be happy you did. Remember NOPE. Thanks so much for all your support.. I love this site! The big fit about my weight gain worry, Is that I was 152 at my biggest, and went to weight watchers, It didn't take too long, But it was hard, I got down to 140, where I stayed for about two months, eating normally. But then I quit smoking, and I am so worried I am going to gain all that weight back. it's not much, But it made a difference. Since most of my cravings have left while I am at home, I went ahead and started working out again, and have been doing the weight watchers point system, I just am not going to the meetings. So I am trying to watch what I am eating.. As for my skin.. This is gross, and I can't wait for the smoke to clear out, SO it will look better.. I know when I started smoking again, My skin broke out and it didn't stop me then.. So this won't stop me now.. Two weeks Down !!! Thank You,, Jame My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 132 Amount Saved: $35 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 5 Seconds: 17

I have been eating like every five minutes... Anything I can get my hands on.. Mostly Chocolate,, Why is it I only feel satisfied when I have a piece of choclate after a meal.. I am going to start dieting tomorrow to get off these extra pounds... This sucks ! I get more grouchy with dieting then when I quit smoking.. I have been so full all the time that I can't breath, instead of feeling better after quitting, I feel worse !! And my face has broken out in acne, I usually have perfect skin ?! What is up ?! I am really trying to tell myself that the zits, fat and bad moods are worth it, But this is pretty hard ! Don't feel bad, Jame... I'm eating chocolate after every meal as well. I've always done that, but I'm eating MORE of it now! The things that you are going through are temporary. Remember to look at your quit meter- the money you are saving, the life you are gaining. Your skin is in shock too, breakouts are a very common side effwct of quitting- as you continue on you will notice your skin taking on a very different complexion- brighter, smoother- healthier. I noticed this- I look fresh now- smoking skin may have been clear but it was YELLOW!!! When you look at yourself in the mirror and are discouraged by your complexion, SMILE! Look at your white teeth!! About the chocolate- I agree that your quit should take precedence over all else but you have to remember to be reasonable. Overeating will cause weight gain which may jeapordize your quit. The only advice I can give you- something I have learned from my quit- is that we are responsible for our actions. There is no one to blame for our faults but ourselves- so be aware of everything you are doing and ask yourself why you are doing these things. Are you really HUNGRY? Is chocolate going to help you? Be strong Jame- you can get through Heck week. It may seem as though the 'side effects' of quitting are not worth it, but then again think of all the people who would give anything to have quit before it was too late. You are getting a second chance. Take it and be strong. Just do it!!! Good luck friend!! Hi Jame - I have to admit that at one point after 100 days I was lying in bed discouraged that there was no fun left to life. I no longer smoked and I was getting fatter...I hit my all-time high - 162 which was 10 lbs higher than when I quit. However - Life didn't end there.....After 100 days with my quit fairly strong, I was ready to concentrate on weight loss and I lost 7 of those 10 lbs in one month (which was during Christmas). So...........what I'm saying is....although it's discouraging to gain weight...apparently it will come off again...Plus we have the energy to REALLY work out! I can breathe! I can breathe! All the best to you Jame....You will do just fine! Jame - You are WAY too early in your quit to worry about dieting. If you want chocolate, eat some chocolate. Drink lots of water and green tea and keep some healthy snacks closeby and try not to overeat but do not be so hard on yourself. Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things you will ever do and you have already finished 11 days (Congratulate yourself) If you feel too full, go for a walk or to the gym....Exercise helps us to feel better AND it burns calories. Your skin problems probably come from quitting smoking not from your eating (Our skin and hair may be a little oilier...which is a sign that they are becoming healthier) The acne will clear up soon. I would say "Concentrate on more exercise and less on diet right now" (the exercise will help with your quit) Congratulate yourself for taking an amazing step toward being healthy. It will all come together in the end. I believe chocolate causes your body to release something to make you feel good...and I can't for the life of me remember what its called... but smoking also made you feel good, or you thought it did since nicotine affects the reward receptors in your brain. I say eat the chocolate worry about the consequences later. Its most important to keep your quit! Jame, what Windy said :) A piece of cholcolate after a meal is much better than an stinky old cig. I don't think we have much control in the begining. Well, some. But our bodies are going though a huge change. Do some walking or excersies to help you keep toned and in a few more weeks then work on diet. Congrats on 11 day :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 358 Amount Saved: $105 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 20 Mins: 4 Seconds: 4

Jame, Your body is healing and going through a lot of changes, so take it step by step, Increase you water intake to help with detoxing and try and eat veggies and fruits as snacks. Use that cake to reward yourself for a job well done, once a week! Take some time to get organized, make a plan for your day and get going! This will keep you occupied and busy. Take the time to talk to your doctor and pharmacist regarding skin care :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
