HATS OFF TO MATES

18 years ago 0 29 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Planning a night out with the Lads tonight, i was planning a polar expedition, i thought the walk and fresh air would give me time to reflect on my situation. How ever i discovered that i was slightly underprepared for this task (only had a Thermos Flask and a pair of Wellington boots) so had to cancel my plans. Plus i missed the last bus it left ten minutes ago and i was still boiling the kettle. So my plan changed, its a night on the tiles, painting the town red, on the lash. Yes Yes i know what your going to say, " Don't do it, its too early" , and all of the other very sensible warnings. But, (there is always a but) we, as in my mates have had our heads together and we have a plan. We will only stick to the non smoking bars in the town which strangely enough are always the most popular. Work that one out. The rest of it is great, all my smoking mates have said that they will show support for my efforts this week and not smoke tonight, now the fact that its freezing cold and pouring down might play a part in there decision. but some how the fact that the have all pledged Twenty pounds for every single cigarette they smoke will go to Cancer Research UK will be the killer blow to them. But my hat goes off to some great mates that are standing by me. Who knows after tonight they might be posting here aswell. Will keep you up to date with how we all get on. Have a great weekend everybody. It may be a little too early in your quit.. But you'll find out when you are out tonight! Good luck and hope you have an enjoyable time with your mates :) Be sure to post here and let us know how it all went. Alexander, It sounds like you have a good plan in place but please don't let alcohol get in the way!!!!! Stay strong, enjoy your night out! If temptation rears its ugly head, remember, distract, delay, avoid or remove yourself from the situation. Life is good. Alexander, Those are some great friends you have there! Worse comes to worse, if it is too tempting, remove yourself from the situation. But it sounds like you have a good plan in place and you've given this situation some thought so have fun! The only thing I would ask you give some thought to is your consumption. Members have found it helpful to reduce it until they are more secure in their quit. Keep us posted. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

Alexander, Hope your night went well. As far as going 'on the lash' is concerned, I say each to his own. I was visiting bars in the first week of my quit - if it did anything, the awful smell persuaded me that I had made the right decision. The only regret I have is the smell of smoke on my clothes after leaving. Won't have to put up with this for long now, England's bars will be smoke-free by next summer! take care Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 280 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,413 Amount Saved: 2100 Life Gained: Days: 46 Hrs: 18 Mins: 6 Seconds: 34
