Welcome to the community, There is nothing I can say, except you have come to right place. As you can see, the post in return to any question is pretty quick. If not the archives of previous post usually finds the answer you might be looking for. The tools to the left were (are) very helpful to me. Good luck and pick a date...we'll be here! Hey Linda! Great going, and congrats for the biggest leap! Look at todays quote of the day, I always find them inspiring. For my first days I tried to keep away from the things deeply smoke related, driving, talking on the phone etc. and kept a bag of pretzels handy. Now my house smells great with homey smells, and my wardrobe can now catch the lavender the smoke used to overpower. I smoked 50 a day for forty years, so you can do it kid!! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Linda, all I can tell you is to keep trying. I quit on Oct 4th and yes I want a smoke really bad. But.. I keep telling myself no. Get yourself a support club. Kids, hubby, friends, whatever it takes. Every time you feel like a smoke, tell them. I guarentee you will not have one with them around. And it is not easy. I've been on the patch. I just downgraded to a 14mg patch today from a 21 mg patch. That was a toughy. But.. I keep telling myself I've gone this far (6 wks) without breaking down, I'm not gonna do it now. Embrace it and do it. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Linda, Great to have you on the road with us! Support is what we're all about. Link arms and don't look back. The nicoteine prison is behind you. The doors are always open at the nicoteine prison but so few leave. So are you going to try to walk out the door or are you out the door? Are you going to link arms with us and not look back? Once you haven't had a smoke when you first really wanted one you aren't "trying" to quit anymore, you're quit. Another thing that I am getting from this thread is that I'm not "quitting smoking". I have quit smoking. To say that I am quitting is sort of open ended. I have to be sure to think of myself as someone who quit smoking not someone who is quitting smoking. Take care of yourself. Post a lot and DON'T LOOK BACK. You know there's nothing back there for you. Hi Linda and welcome to SCC! You didn't indicate what part of the quit has been hard for you....some people are able to get through the first 2 weeks and then have difficulty later in their quits. This journey is a learning process and we pick up different skills along the way. The first couple weeks are about survival - the rest is learning how to live your new smoke-free life. Either way, there is lots of advice and support here. For me, forever seemed overwhelming, so I got up and committed to each day. Now forever doesn't seem that impossible after all. Take care! Dear Linda, Sorry to post so late, but as you have probably realized, you are in wonderful hands. These wise people were there for me when I first started my quit and they have kept helping me ever since. You are never alone in any of this. Don't be scared, We are all with you. Remember, believe in your self and you can do it. You just have to want to quit more than you want to smoke and you won't fail. Welcome, Linda! Check out the stats on Missyfit and HealerWithin. They are evidence that it can be done! I smoked for 34 years and had worked myself up to 3 packs a day. You can do it, too! Work the program to the left, get your mind-set right, pick a day and then take the plunge---no excuses! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,267 Amount Saved: $520 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 17 Mins: 20 Seconds: 45

Linda, you can do this. Dig deep and find your reason you want to quit. Work the progam. Post as often as you need to, share with us and you can get quit. Do what you need to do, just don't smoke. I can tell you, you need to be committed. For some it was not to bad for others it can be rough at times, but you can do this. Everyone is here for you. Come and join the winners :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 54 Amount Saved: $15 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 27 Seconds: 59
