Hi Deb! Thanks for starting this. I'm at work and if my boss see me here, I'll get fired so I'll be back! I have that cough too! Marie

Gosh Interesting, great attitude. You should be really proud of yourself. I hope to adopt the same attitude! Couldn't feel better here in Tweed. I cannot wait to go out and enjoy the fresh air and walk around in the snow with my dog. Then I will go and have fun with my equines. Not smoking is the best thing I could have done for myself. I am so happy and I want the whole world to know it. Hey, Aunt Deb I am a January 01-2007 quitter, and really proud of it. I had tried to quit in the past with no success, but this time is different. I am doing it for myself and for health reason. I have seen the devastating effects of COPD and it is very scary. I do not want to get old and be hooked to an oxygen machine. This is why I am quitting. The cravings have been fairly easy to handle, water has become by best friend, I probably drink over a gallon of it in a day. That's okay it is good for me. Feeling great here! I no longer smoke! That is the most fun thing for me to say in the entire world! I never thought I could quit. Still feeling quite proud! Have discovered lots of little treats in life, like special flavored hot teas just for me, cafe mocha's out of the espresso machine I bought myself as a reward, the massage I'm having in a couple of days. Never took the time for these things... too busy smoking I guess. Started at the gym today, and felt great... can't wait to get those lungs revved back up and in good shape! Feel so good for taking care of myself. When I start to think about oh... when will I get that next cig in... it's like a surprise... Oh... I don't have to deal with that s@#$ anymore, because I no longer smoke. Have found myself taking part in more things, because my being does not revolve around smoking anymore. It truly is FREEDOM at it's best! Never felt better! Life is good! Let's see... I think I'm on Day 10. Feeling pretty good. No weight gain yet. Withdrawal symptoms were not that bad for me, and I don't know why. I haven't had major "craves". I have had times where I was at loose ends and those were times I would have (in my past life), smoked, but it wasn't the smoke I missed. It was just the something to do to tie up the loose end! Back to work this week, and today was stressful, but I laughed it off, and went to the next thing that needed done. In this process, I'm really watching how I react to things - stresses, etc. I'm consciously changing that reaction, and think it's going to be good. Instead of focusing so much on smoking, I'm observing events that happen in my days and the thoughts triggered by those events, and making a choices regarding my reaction and/or behavior. I've been pretty happy. I think about smoking less than I did, but it's still there. My sleep is messed up. I've had some wild dreams, and I'm not on the patch. I don't get nearlyl as many hours as I used to, but I don't feel like it's the end of the world. I guess I don't need it that bad right now. I had one piece of nicorette yesterday and one today, so I'm about done with it as well. I've never been able to quit in the past. The mind games I played with myself drove me up the wall. What is different this time for me, is that smoking was no longer an option. It's as if cigarettes just don't even exist anymore. Can't smoke if I want to. I divorced cigarettes and they are gone for good. They have moved out of my house, I have happily cleaned up behind them and that's the end of the story. Every time I think of smoking when I feel stressed, I ask myself what would smoking solve? It would just make my throat and lungs hurt, and the stress would still be the same. I pray that this attitude doesn't change for me, because it is what I needed to quit for good. And... I am so very proud of myself!!! Thanks for listening and I enjoyed reading these. Thanks, Aunt Deb for starting it! yesterday was great! I didn't take my chantix pill last night and I don't feel so great today. I wonder what will happen when I stop taking chantix all together. I'm a little worried about that now. I will not smoke today!! Still taking this one day at a time. Lily_Gazer, Congrats on your 17 days! (me too chantix)..my dreams have not stopped, but for me...I'm glad. I haven't slept like this since I was in my 20's. I could never sleep past 4:30am on any given day. I haven't dreamed in years, so this is a welcome side effect for me. Just one other thing though on smoking dreams, when I quit the first time for 10-yr...I had nighmares up to 3 years after I quit. I sometimes would wake up with a sore throat...I had evidently been trying to smoke in my sleep Lol...go figure. My doctor, who prescribed the chantix, doesn't know enough about the effects of it to give any information of how long the dreams will last. If the dreams really bother you, maybe you could cut the pills in half and wean yourself off of them. Or ask your doctor if you can stop taking them. Stay with your quit though...good luck...auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,015 Amount Saved: $95 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 19 Mins: 7 Seconds: 37

Dottie, I know of at least 8 people on the Chantix here at the site (myself included) I had a cold before I started the Chantix, and on my very first smokless day I came down with some kind of 24-hr Bug with (both ends being very busy..ha ha)however the local news didn't say anything about Chantix being the culprit. I am actually glad that I had the cold too...it helped me cough up more gunk buried down deep. The Chantix is an excellent product I think. check out some of the posts and you'll get some more feed back on the Chantix. Welcome to the Quit!!auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 824 Amount Saved: $82.79 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 10 Mins: 1 Seconds: 10
