Buspar

I have been using Buspar since April and have found it to be extremely effective. I have been on Citalopram for about 5 years and have never been convinced of its effectivenes...in fact I think it made me worst. So I decided with my doctors help to come off it. He prescribed Buspar to help with this but also to take at my most anxious moments. I am now down to the minutest dose of Citalopram (although that hasn't been easy) and I wish I had been on Buspar before. As soon as I start to feel like a panic attack might be in the offing I take a 2.5mg tablet and it seems to take my mind away from the anxielty totally. I would consider that I suffer from panic disorder and it has certainly helped with that. I still wish there was something else I could take that would banish everything but I don't suppose thats possible. What has your doctor said about alcohol and Buspar. I believe you shouldn't drink with it and I wish I could. Looking up the internet it seems to indicated that it might decrease contentedness by drinking with Buspar but not sure if there are any other reasons.

Can someone please tell me if they have any luck with Buspar. My doctor just put me on it, but my understanding is that it's not useful for the treatment of panic disorder. I'm also taking Effexor and Ativan. The Ativan seems to help, but I know that it's not a long-term solution to my problem. Thanks, Beckie
