Hi Hopeful
Thanks so much for your reply and your words of wisdom.
Today, (Sunday) here in South Africa, I did more exposure work. This time I drove past my safe point and WOW, I hit a 9 out of 10 on my panic scale.
So, I stopped the car and thought, "I want to go home, I am going home, how do I turn around? I am going to loose control" and then, I dont know how I did it but I just broke through this brick wall if that is what I can call it and continued driving forward.
Well, it was amazing as my fear level went down to a 5 the moment I broke through this "brick wall".
I ended up driving for over an hour.
But, of course on roads I know. Also in that hour, I stopped at a shop, got out my car and went for a quick shop, dive bombed back in the car, ( as that is my safe place now LOL, all of a sudden :8|: and continued driving around then drove home. I was on a 4 out of 10 driving home.
I must say this is very hard work, I mean, I have to do this everyday :8o:
I wonder if it will get easier or stay the same? I dont know but I must do this because the taste of FREEDOM is so wonderful and fresh, that it gives me a natural high and my depression lifts for the day after my exposure therapy is done.
If there are any others doing exposure work? Please post so that we can compare our experiences?
God Bless
Debs
